The community had an opportunity to meet the leaders of area schools Monday night, July 29, as the Yellow Hat Society hosted a Meet & Greet at city hall. While all educators were invited, organizer Lillie Johnson was especially hoping new school personnel would be on hand to meet the public.
The evening was more than just an informal get-together as school personnel and board members were invited to give updates in their areas.
Speaking were principals LaTonya Gill, Jennifer Lee, and Layton Knight, Superintendent Dr. Michele Collier, Deputy of Operations Shaun Goolsby, board members Cindy Jackson (District 4), Loumeek White (District 5), Sherry Digmon (District 6), and Coleman Wallace (District 7). Board members Kevin Hoomes, Danny Benjamin and Mike Edwards did not attend.
Yellow Hat Tovjivanese Wilkerson served as emcee. Other participating in the program were Overseer Maurice Square, Charles Wiggins, and Coleman Wallace (in the absence of Pastor Wayne Johnson).
Johnson introduced the newest and youngest members of the organization – Yellow Jackets Tatum Wilkerson and Carlos Herrera.
