Ernest Ray “Ernie” Walker, Jr. 

Mr. Ernest Ray “Ernie” Walker, Jr., age 52, of Rabun, Ala. passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 in Mobile, Ala. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to Earnest Ray Walker, Sr. and Patricia Porter Walker. He was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God. He was an avid Auburn football fan and served in the Army National Guard. He also was a Correctional Officer, construction worker and a truck driver.  

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Porter Walker.

Mr. Walker is survived by his father, Earnest Ray Walker, Sr.; his sons, Andrew Walker and Tyler Walker, both of Rabun; his daughter, Ashley Walker of Rabun; his brother, Michael (Monica) Walker of Bay Minette, Ala. and his grandchildren, Lakilyn West, Madilyn Walker and Serenity West; his niece and nephew, Lauren and Landen Walker.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God in Rabun with Bro. Randall Short officiating. Interment will follow in Dean’s Cemetery in Rabun.

Active pallbearers will be Billy Perry, Chris Perry, Jackson Porter, Dewayne Shiver, Dennis Taylor and Chris Hadley.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help with funeral expenses.

June Katherine Godwin

Mrs. June Katherine Godwin, age 78, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 in Daphne, Ala. She was a native of Little River, Alabama where she spent most of her life and resident of Bay Minette, Ala. She enjoyed sewing, gardening both vegetable and flowers. Watching Hallmark Channel, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud was a favorite thing to do to pass the time. She loved traveling with her husband to Mount Rushmore and from Kansas to the Carolinas. She really enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially cooking for them. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard (Lillian Boone) Phillips; three brothers, Clayton Boone, Kenneth Boone and John Boone; three sisters, Melba Boone, Martha Holder and Shirley Penter.

Mrs. Godwin is survived by her husband of sixty years, William Godwin of Bay Minette; two sons, William Scott (Tammy) Godwin of Little River and Jason Godwin of Bay Minette; four brothers, George Boone, Leroy (Betty) Boone, Bernard Boone, Jr. and Joseph Boone, all of Little River; three sisters, Alma Woods of Atmore, Ala., Donna (Richard) Harry and Deliah (Jim) Dinzeo, all of Va.; one grandchild, Emily Godwin of Little River; two great-grandchildren, Raiden Risher and Emma Risher.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Rev. Cornelius Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Mamie’s Chapel Cemetery.

Herman Eddy Ray Cain

Mr. Herman Eddy Ray Cain, age 79, of Bay Minette, Ala. passed Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was a native of Bay Minette and retired as a mechanic with the Board of Education of Baldwin County with many years of service. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He was an avid John Wayne fan and enjoyed sitting in his rocking chair to watch the westerns. He enjoyed watching the squirrels eating corn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Laborn (Virginia Mae Payne) Cain and his wife, Ann Marie Cain.

Mr. Cain is survived by his two sons, Terry (Dina) Cain and Shelton Tyson, all of Bay Minette,; two brothers, Bobby (Georgie) Cain of Daphne, Ala. and Jerry (Kay) Cain, of Phillipsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Terri Nicholas, Caitlin Lord, Kristin Weaver, Grace Tyson, Caleb Tyson, Charity Burditt, Taylor Quinn; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.

Wanda Diane Johnson

Mrs. Wanda Diane Johnson, age 72, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in Brewton, Ala. She was born in Century, Fla. and has resided most of her life in Pineview, Ala. She was a member of Pineview Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed watching Alabama Football, westerns and Hallmark Channel on television. She also traveling to the Smoky Mountains. She really liked to cook for family and friends, especially Divinity, Peanut Brittle, Pumpkin Bread, and sweet potato pie.

She was preceded by her parents, Thomas Jefferson (Loucille Creamer) Peacock; one granddaughter, Julie Christina Bradley; one brother, James Peacock and one sister, Mary Ellen Enfinger.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her loving husband of fifty-three years, Henry Johnson of Pineview; one son, Eric (Leslie) Johnson of Flomaton, Ala.; one daughter, Angie (Lavon) Bradley of Flomaton; one brother, Vernon (Clara) Peacock of Atmore, Ala.; one sister, Marjorie (Buddy) Nelson of Byrneville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Blake Johnson, Ashley Bradley, Nikki Flowers; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Flowers and Michael Flowers; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joyce Hadley

Mrs. Joyce Hadley, age 84, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Friday, January 26, 2024.  She was a native of Whitehouse Fork, Ala. She was a member of Whitehouse Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a very faithful church goer, and a member of the Touching Angels Community Outreach. She enjoyed her cats. She was a fan of Ronnie Joyce Gospel Singing TV program.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard (Myrtle Perkins) Buck; husband, Elick Hadley; one son, Frank Hadley; two brothers, Willie Earl Buck and Elbert Buck; one sister, Jimmie Lou Hawkins.

Mrs. Hadley is survived by her one son, Franklin (Kristina) Hadley of Whitehouse Fork; six grandchildren, Nicole Allen, John Codie Bolton, Heath Lee Bolton, Patrick Frantz, Hannah Frantz; seven great-grandchildren, Gabriel Allen, Hayden Bolton, Owyn Foster, Bobby Bolton, Lukah Foster, Eillie  Lucus, Chris Lucus; other relatives and friends.

Curtis Eugene Williams

Mr. Curtis Eugene Williams, age 85, of Mineola, Ala. passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at his home. He was a native of Mineola and a member of Mineola Baptist Church. He retired from Masland Carpets with many years of service. He was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He loved socializing and proclaimed himself as the mayor of Mineola. He loved gardening, cutting grass and sitting on his porch carving walking canes. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed sitting around watching a good western.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Green (Minnie Lee Brooks) Williams,  Sr.; wife, Betty Ann Williams; one daughter, Connie Williams Smith; three brothers, Albert Williams, Charles Williams, Leroy Williams; two sisters, Judith Williams, Bobbie Ann Corey.

Mr. Williams is survived by his one son, Curtis (Michelle) Williams, of Mineola; two daughters, Amy (Chuck) Johns of Brewton, Ala. and Shelly (Ronnie) Pugh, Goodway, Ala.; four brothers, David (Sue Carol) Williams of Goodway, Buddy (Rosie) Williams of Franklin, Ala., Don (Vicky) Williams of McCullough, Ala. and Willis (Alice) Williams of Mexia, Ala.; three sisters, Louise Gibson of Claiborne, Ala., Orbineze Boatwright of Poarch, Ala., Montez McMillian of Little River, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Miranda Dunn, Michael Smith, Kyle Williams, Brianna Pugh, Jayce Pugh, Jessie Pugh, Alaina Pugh, Allison Johns; three great-grandchildren, Ada Dunn, Meela Smith, Hazel Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Virginia Louise Cobb

Mrs. Virginia Louise Cobb, age 85, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 26, 2024 in Megargel, Ala. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.  She was an amazing, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family. She loved yard work and going to all the grandchildren’s sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jr. Cobb; parents, Andrew James (Mary Eugenia Lambert) Snow; one grandson, Christian Blake Upton and one sister, Diane Black.

Mrs. Cobb is survived by her five children, Eddie (Tina) Upton and Cindy (David) Morgan, all of Frisco City, Ala., Allen (Cindy) Cobb, of Uriah, Ala., Tina (Eric) Williams of Auburn, Ala. and Tammy (Jeff) Brooks of Orange Beach, Ala.; one brother, Andrew James “Sonny” Snow of Atmore, Ala.; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Irvin Murphy Beasley

Mr. Irvin Murphy Beasley, age 93, of Walnut Hill, Fla. passed away after a long illness at his home Friday, January 26, 2024. He was born in Walnut Hill to Henry and Bridget Beasley.

He was a dairy farmer and a row crop farmer for most of his adult life and was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beulah Beasley and his second wife, Lola Beasley; his two stepchildren, Judy Hall and Marvin Groover.

Mr. Beasley is survived by his son, Joe Beasley (Susie) of Walnut Hill; his stepson, Larry Groover (Joanne) of Texas; his grandchildren, Jeff Beasley, Amie Beasley, Alan Robbins, Phillip Robbins, John Groover; grand-stepdaughter, Mary Ann Sandry; his great-grandchildren as well as his cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Atmore.

Steven Edward Peacock

Mr. Steven Edward Peacock, age 60, of Ft. Morgan, Ala., passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024.  He was born in Atmore, Ala. to William Edward Peacock and Patsy Barbara “Marshall” Peacock. He attended Escambia Academy through 11th grade but was a 1981 graduate of Pelham High School. He went on to work for Perot Systems, Mt. Sinai Health Systems in New York and finished his career with UCSF at Zuckerberg San Francisco General as an Administrative Director of Clinical Labs. He fought a brave fight against a rare, aggressive form of Cancer.  His grace through the process was something that we all have learned from watching him.  He had an unwavering respect and deep compassion for others and their feelings even when he himself was hurting. His gentleness was a trait he shared with everyone. He loved to travel and had many chances to travel abroad, but his true love was being with his family and at his home in Ft Morgan.  

Mr. Peacock is survived by his father, William E. Peacock; mother, Patsy “Marshall” Peacock; daughter, Sabrina (Abrian) Allender; son, Blaine Peacock; sister, Jill (Bryan) Hughes and Rebecca Peacock; nieces, Julie Sterndorf and Hannah Sterndorf; nephews, Ryan (Amanda) Peacock, Alec Hughes and Austin Hughes.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kenny Moore, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

Mrs. Carole Bondurant Hamilton, age 78, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024. She was born in Flomaton, Ala. to Joseph L. and Bertha Hammac Bondurant. She was a Machine Operator with Vanity Fair Corporation until she retired. She was a member of Jubilee Full Gospel Church in Brewton, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Joseph Leon Smith; her siblings, Curtis Bondurant, Evelyn Gilley, J.L. Bondurant, Gene Bondurant, Edward Ross, and Walter Ross.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Donald Hamilton; her children, Kay (Reo) Pugh, Jeff (Laura) Taylor and Mike (Shannon) Taylor, all of Flomaton, Ala., James (Peggy) Hamilton of Richland, Wash. and Dana (Todd) Vickrey of Atmore; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with a private inurnment in Mize-Wadkins Cemetery in Flomaton.

Callie Sue Stafford 

Mrs. Callie Sue Stafford, age 77, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024.  She was born in Monroe County, Ala. to the late Earl and Callie Dunn Byrd. She was a retired LPN from Atmore Community Hospital and after retirement worked for Dr. Frances D. Salter, MD and attended Cross Point Church in Atmore. The title she was most proud of was being called “Nan-Nan”.  She adored and deeply treasured her grandchildren. They were the light of her life and the joy of her heart. She leaves her family and friends with an enduring legacy of unconditional love, loyalty, and devotion that they will carry with them forever.

She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Don Stafford; her siblings, Houston Byrd, Tony Byrd, James Byrd, Jimmy Byrd, Donnie Byrd and Shelby Jean Byrd Dunn.

Mrs. Stafford is survived by her daughter, LaDawn (Darryl) Singleton of Beulah, Fla. and her son, LaDon “Scooter” (Wendy) Stafford of Atmore; her grandchildren, Dakota (Jessica) Singleton, Shadow (Katelyn) Singleton, Sydney Singleton, Devin Stafford, Dayne Stafford, Griffin Stafford; her special nephew and great-niece, Byron Dunn and Heather Dunn along with many family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim McCraney officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
