Miranda L. Moseley

Mrs. Miranda L. Moseley, age 52, of Perdido, Ala., passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023.  She was born in Huxford, Ala. to Kenneth Ray and Betty Lou Minor Seale. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross.  

She was preceded in death by her mother.  

Mrs. Moseley is survived by her husband, Jessie Moseley; her father, Kenneth (Brenda) Seale of Bay Minette, Ala.; her children, Katie Knox (Taylor Hastings) of Perdido and Jesse (Marisa) Seale of Bay Minette, Ala.; her step-children, Jessica Moseley of Foley, Ala. and Justin (Crystal) Moseley of Grand Bay, Ala.; her brothers, Kenny Ray Seale and James Green; her sisters, Deborah Seale, Tammy Wheeler and Brandy Seale; six grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Justin Cox, Robert Koehrsen, Calob Koehrsen, Chance Stewart, Steven Walker and Damon Miller.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Bobbie Jean Godwin Gunn

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Godwin Gunn, age 88, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was born in Flomaton, Ala. to Perry and Essie Lee Barrow Godwin. She was a supervisor with Vanity Fair Corporation retiring with over forty-six years of service. She was a lifelong member of Sardis Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Howard Gunn and her siblings, Robert Earl Godwin, Bennie William Godwin, Sr. and Mary Francis Richburg.

Mrs. Gunn is survived by her sons, David (Suzan) Amos and Ben Godwin, all of Atmore and Neal Amos of Jensen Beach, Fla.; her daughters, Brenda (David) Moss of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Jennifer Stanley of Atmore; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Wawbeek, Ala. with Bro. Larry Wayne Bonds officiating. Interment will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Shawn Amos, Brandon Amos, Kelby Amos, J.R. Godwin and John Richburg.

Roy T. Henderson

Mr. Roy T. Henderson of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Atmore.

No funeral arrangements have been made at this time.

William Henry Hamilton

Master Sergeant William Henry Hamilton, age 92, of Century, Fla. passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024. He served in the United States Marine Corps and retired after twenty-four and one-half years of service as an E-8 Master Sergeant. He then went on to work and retired from Exxon Mobile in Jay, Fla. He loved raising his cattle, horses and bailing hay. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always willing to help anyone in need. He lived his life by the Marine Corp Code, Semper Fi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Corbet (Willie Marcus) Hamilton; four sons, Bill Hamilton Jr., Larry Hamilton, Kevin Hamilton and Greg Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by two brothers, George C. Hamilton of Va. and Fred Taylor of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters, Dorothy Greenwell of McDavid, Fla. and Ann Rydzowski of Flomaton, Ala.; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside and burial services with military honors were held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Crary Cemetery with Rev. Waylon Stuckey officiating.

Larry’s Wayne Ward

Mr. Larry Wayne Ward, age 78, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla.  He was born Goodway, Ala. to the late Jesse and Lillie Childress Ward. He was a farmer most of his life. He was a graduate of Auburn University and a founding member of the Gulf Coast Auburn Financial Analysis. He was a partner with Tri County Peanut and co-owner of the Flower Pot.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Raymond Ward, Inez Wiggins, Howard Ward and J. Lavaughn Ward, and his step-son, John-Graham Quinley.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Katherine Wood Ward of Huxford, Ala.; his son, Brad Ward of Huxford; his daughter, Beth (Michael) Donaldson of Daphne, Ala.; his step-children, Alice Katherine (Sean) Corbin of S. C. and William Graham (Alyssa) Quinley of Fairhope, Ala.; his brother, J.E. Ward of Goodway; his sister, Margaret (Kenneth) Coker of Mobile, Ala.; his grandson, Christian Donaldson and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore, Ala. with Rev. Wayne McMillan officiating. Interment followed in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodway.

The family received friends Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Voncile Mayo Ray

Mrs. Voncile Mayo Ray, age 89, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a native of Florala. Ala. and resident of Canoe, Ala. most of her life.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren grow up. Cooking was a favorite thing she enjoyed. She was also a very skilled cake decorator. Watching the shopping network, True crime, along with doing crossword puzzles were just a few ways she spent her free time. Flower gardening and manicuring her nails was also something she enjoyed. She was a very caring neighbor always willing to help people in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Young (Almeadie Hooks) Mayo; husband, Willis Matthew Ray; brother, John Henry Mayo; sister, Evelyn Mayo Peacock.

Mrs. Ray is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (James) Helms of Canoe, Ala. and Beverly (Don) Ellis of Atmore; six grandchildren, Jenifer Dykes, Bradley Dykes, Kavin Dykes, Matt (Gayle) Helms, Joey Helms and Tammy Lollar; nine great-grandchildren, Ana Helms, Sebastian Helms, Tristan Dykes, Jayden Dykes, Mikie Helms, Jimmy Dorriety, MaKayla Barlow, Kailey Dykes and Kianna Dykes; four great-great-grandchildren, Lileigh Dorriety, Brantlee Dorriety, Jaxen Barlow and Lakelynn Barlow.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Pastor, Bill Stuckey. Burial will follow at Canoe Freewill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Joey Helms, Mikie Helms, Tristan Dykes, Matt Helms, Bradley Dykes, and Sebastian Helms.

Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Mayo and James Conway.

Priscilla Nelson Snow

Mrs. Priscilla Nelson Snow, age 81, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024. She was born in Pensacola, Fla. to Maurice and Helen Coon Nelson. She was a cosmetologist until she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Katherine Ard and Ronald Nelson.

Mrs. Snow is survived by her husband, John Snow, Jr.; her sons, Bruce Alan Barton of Pensacola, Fla. and Kelly Andrew Barton of Molino, Fla.; her step-son, John L. (Amy) Snow, III; her brothers, Paul (Theresa) Nelson and Maurice (Patricia) Nelson, Jr., both of Jay, Fla.; her sisters, Lynda Duke of Knoxville, Tenn. and Marilynn (John) Ghiatis of Walnut Hill, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Noon at Divine Grace Church with Pastor Keith Lisenby officiating. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery at NAS, Pensacola, FL.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11 a.m. until service time at Noon at Divine Grace Church, 5191 Highway 21, Atmore.

In lieu of flowers, in honor of Priscilla, donations can be made to Divine Grace Church for the music program.

Eleanor Dixon McGill

Mrs. Eleanor Dixon McGill, age 78, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023. She was born in Flomaton to Clifton and Inez (Howard) Dixon. She was a graduate of Southern Normal in Brewton, Ala. Her career was in nursing. She was a dedicated caregiver to her siblings. She was a member of the House of Prayers in Walnut Hill, Fla. She embodied her faith in every aspect of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lily McCory, Vinnee’y Dees, Minnie Golsten, Elbert Dixon, Roosevelt Dixon, Sr. (Barbara), Bernard Dixon Sr., Jimmy Dixon Sr. (Presa Ila), and William Dixon; her beloved son, Leonard Dixon.

Mrs. McGill is survived by her husband of over fifty years, Michael McGill; children, Clifton Dixon, Taijuana Dixon, Regina Frye; step-children, Tiffany Cooley, Alisha Lofton, Jessica Black, Jermaine West, Michelle Echols; daughter-in-law, Oghogho Dixon; mtcrs Callie Washington and Inez Blair; dear friend Melissa Hick; a host of grandchildren, great-grandch1ldren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at The Venue of the Hidden Falls – Flomaton. Burial followed at Fannie Cemetery.

Lillie Belle Hetherington

Mrs. Lillie Belle Hetherington, age 88, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, December 180 2023. She was born in Mexia, Ala. to the late Bill Lang and Lillie Iona Parker. She attended school at BIA in Monroeville, Ala. She was a homemaker who loved shopping and gardening. She later moved to McCullough, Ala. and joined First Baptist Cullough where she gained the title of ‘Mother of the Church”.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband, Ernest Lee Hetherington; father; six brothers and two sisters; one sister-in-law and one son-in-law.

Mrs. Hetherington is survived by two sons, Dr. Samuel (Dr. Gladys) Hetherington of Silver Springs, Md. And Tommy (Phyllis) Hetherington of Wetumpka, Ala.; three daughters, Flora (Walter) Caples of Jacksonville, Fla., Ernice Del more of Atmore and Tracy (James) Reece of Prosper, Texas; two brothers, Bill Lang of Moss Point, Miss. and Earl Lang of Frisco City, Ala.; one sister, Georgia (Jeff) Williams of Monroeville and one sister-in-law, Mattie Hetherington of Atmore; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted friends and a special nephew, Jeffrey Parker.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Noon with Burdis Williams, Minister officiating.

Margaret Belinda Martin of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital in Mobile, Ala.
