Marcia Lynn Oden

Mrs. Marcia Lynn Oden, age 59, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Raceland, La. Her life was a beacon of warmth and love. Her home was a sanctuary, her arms a refuge, and her heart embodied the verse she lived by: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Marcia’s faith never wavered.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis Perry Oden; parents, James Preston Tipton and Frances Geraldine Walston.

Mrs. Oden is survived by her children, Jolene and Mo Sayed, Robert and Lindsey Oden, Jerod and Tabitha Oden and Justin Oden; siblings, Carrie and E.J. Lefort, David and Christina Tanner, James and Dorthy Tipton, Joey and Rani Norman, Kevin Combs, Lonnie Tanner, Patricia Coker and Sherrie and Chris Pitre; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 22, 2023 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jerod Oden, Robert Oden, Justin Oden, Ayden Bell, Moe Sayed and James Tipton.

Harrison Dewayne Glass

Mr. Harrison Dewayne Glass, age 55, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in Mobile, Ala. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Leslie O. and Luverta Lewis Glass. He was a machine operator with Georgia Pacific for over twenty-eight years before retiring in 2021. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and helping his brother with the sawmill.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Glass Loop.

Mr. Glass is survived by his wife, Elicia Brooke Grice Glass; his daughter, Elizabeth Glass (Cameron) McCall of Brewton; his granddaughter, Berkleigh McCall; his siblings, Brenda (Wayne) Bell, Diane (Ronnie) Byrd, Rusty (Janet) Glass, David (Anita) Glass, Susanne Glass, Roberta Strickland, Barbara Ann Dickson and Jean Sanspree along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Richburg officiating. Interment will follow in New Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Barnett Crossroads, Ala.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Hawsey, Labarron Dees, Charlie Blunt, Gerald Bell, Melvin Byrd and Ron Wadkins.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 22, 2023 from Noon until service time at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, AL.

Dan Robinson

Mr. Dan Robinson, age 85, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, December 10, 2023. He was born to Sam and Franzella Robinson in White Hall, Ala. In his early years he was a member of the gospel group, Sothern Echoes. He drove log trucks for a living and spent his leisure time fishing. He was known in the community as “Uncle Dan”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; spouses, Allean Robinson and Ruby Nolen Robinson; children, Gregory Robinson and Patricia Jones.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his children, Raymond Robinson and Jeffrey Baron, both of Atmore, Tachaka Robins, Kevin Robinson of Foley, Ala., Yashika Robinson, Alicia Robinson of Mobile, Ala., Dan Robinson, Jr., Diane Robinson and Gloria Cob, al of Clearwater, Fla.; siblings, Leroy Robinson, Ernest Robinson and Juanita Scrivens, all of Fort My3ers, Fla.; special sisters, Minie Stret, Barbara Forney, Alice Baron, Belinda Martin and Doris Robinson; special nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Davis and Ben Davis, both of White Hal, Ala. and Claudia White of For Meyers.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Denis Stephens, Pastor and Apostle Louis Banks, Sr., Eulogy officiating.

William “Ralph” Parker

Mr. William “Ralph” Parker, age 87, of Bratt, Fla., passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Bratt and later in life moved to Evergreen, Ala, for thirty years, before moving back to Bratt for the past twenty-six years. He worked at a saw mill for many years before retiring. He enjoyed watching the grandchildren and working outdoors specially cutting grass and working in the yard. He liked tinkering in his barn and going to his granddaughters’ skating events. He really enjoyed sitting down to watch wrestling and a good western.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lazarus (Lottie Mae Conway) Parker.

Mr. Parker is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Carolyn Parker of Bratt; two sons, Wendell Ralph (Katy) Parker and David (Kristin) Parker, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Hayley Parker, Mason Parker, Matt Parker, Kylee Parker, Luke Lambert, Chase Lambert, Lila Parker other relatives and friends.

Graveside and burial services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Godwin Cemetery with Rev. Henry Johnson officiating.

Rose Marie Balwin

Mrs. Rose Marie Balwin, age 85, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away Tuesday December 19, 2023 at her residence. She was a native of Robertsdale, Ala., resident of Molino, Fla. and Flomaton Ala. She was a member of Molino First Assembly of God Church at Pugh Chapel. She enjoyed sewing, coloring and loved cooking for everyone and most importantly reading her Bible. She greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Jones; son, Ronnie Boatwright; parents; Irvin and Frances Cantrell Mitchell; a brother, Gene Mitchell; sister Phyllis Joiner.  

Mrs. Balwin is survived by three sons, James Jones of Flomaton, Ricky (Traci) Boatwright of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Doug Poston of Molino; two daughters, Susie Miller of Molino and Patsy (Roger) Hart; brother, Curtis (Marelle) Mitchell of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Christopher, Christina, Johnathon, Janie, Oliver, Genie and Amber; nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Pastor Donald Leavins officiating.
Burial will follow at Pugh Chapel Cemetery.

Nancy Mae Martin

Mrs. Nancy Mae Martin, age 73, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023.  She was a native of Flomaton, Ala. and resident of Atmore for most of her life. She enjoyed fishing, sitting with the elderly, raising kids and yard youngins. Always enjoyed riding and sightseeing, traveling to various destinations. Flowers were something she greatly enjoyed seeing. Spending time with family and friends was the utmost importance to her.  Her favorite pastime was watching soap operas and the hallmark channel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Elijah and Georgia Mae Peacock Lambeth; three brothers and two sisters. 

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Terry Martin of Atmore; son, Wayne (Rhonda) Martin of Atmore; two daughters, Terri Martin and Regina Martin, both of Atmore; yard youngin, Amanda (Brent) Godwin of Atmore; three brothers, Claude Lambeth of Satsuma, Ala., Joe (Mary) Lambeth of Brewton, Ala. and George (Debra) Lambeth of Little Rock, Ala.; one sister, Frances McMillian of Little Rock; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Reverend J P Lambeth officiating.
Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 24, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Hadley, Tommy Pickern, Brad Adams, Brent Godwin, Jeremy Clifton and Nicholas Martin.

Curtis E. Crook

Mr. Curtis E. Crook, age 66, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Mobile, Ala. He was born in Atmore to Willard L. and Doris Johnson Crook.  He was a founding member and Elder of River of Life Church in Atmore, which he cherished.  He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Marine Embassy Guard. He retired from the Alabama Department of Corrections after serving as a prison guard at Fountain and Holman Correctional Facilities.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Crook is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Sharon Womack Crook; his daughter, Stephanie (Doug) Baggett of Haughton, La.; his sons, Jeremy (Gloria) Crook of Bay Minette, Ala., John (Letty) Crook of Calif. and Don Spence of Walnut Hill, Fla.; his brother, Eric (Renee) McNeil of Pine Grove, Ala.; his sisters, Kim Brown and Tracey Caraway, both of Atmore; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Richard Daniels officiating at River of Life Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benevolence Fund in Memory of Curtis Crook at River of Life Church, 4743 Highway 21 North, Atmore, AL  36502.
