An Atmore man was arrested December 8 after city police were sent to investigate a reported domestic violence incident on Lee Street.
Atmore Police Department Sgt. Darrell McMann said officers were sent to a residence on the street’s 600 block around 5:20 p.m. on December 7. They arrived to discover that Jeremiah Antron James, 36, had kicked in the front door to his ex-girlfriend’s residence while armed with a knife.
Police learned that James threatened to kill the victim, then chased her in his vehicle after she ran from the residence and was able to escape.
James reportedly stole several items from the residence before chasing the victim in his vehicle.
He was arrested the next day and charged with one count each of first-degree domestic violence (burglary), third-degree domestic violence (harassment-in reference to the threats), third-degree domestic violence (reckless endangerment), and fourth-degree theft of property.
James was processed into the Escambia County Detention Center, where he remained near midday Tuesday, December 12.
