Vision screenings set November 17 at health department

Special to Atmore News

Alabama Lions Sight (ALS) will be providing low-cost vision screenings at the Escambia County Health Department on Friday, November 17.
An ALS mobile eye unit, with a board-certified optometrist on board, will be on hand. The unit also contains “the same equipment found in brick-and-mortar offices.”
Eye exams are $20 each, and ALS will file insurance claims, if applicable.
If a screening indicates that a person might benefit from eyeglasses, ALS will be able to furnish single prescription glasses for $40 and bifocals for $60. Frames may be selected on-site and will be mailed to the person’s home, usually within two weeks.
Those who plan to attend the event at the health department are asked to schedule their appointment ahead of time by calling 1-800-96-SIGHT (74448).
Schedules and contact information for each mobile eye clinic can be found at alabamalionssight.org (click on Vision Screenings, then Mobile Eye Clinic Schedules).
