Rear-end collision

One driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision that occurred around 11 a.m., October 18, near North Main Street’s junction with Avenue A. According to Atmore Police Department reports, the driver of a Nissan Titan — Shedrick Fountain, 48, of Atmore — was stopped in the roadway, waiting for a vehicle in front of him to turn, when a Ford Flex driven by 83-year-old Robert Simmons, also of Atmore, plowed into the rear of the truck. Fountain was taken by ambulance to Atmore Community Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. In photo, Firefighter Jessie Boone, left, and Capt. Zack Stewart of the city fire department examine the damage.
