Joe Frank Mims II

Mr. Joe Frank Mims II, 72, of McCullough, Ala., passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born to Maston M. and Jorette Bowman Mims of Uriah, Ala. He was a l969 graduate of J.U Blacksher High School. He served 6 years in Army National Guard. He farmed all his life working lands in Monroe, Dallas, Baldwin, and Escambia counties in Alabama. Later in life he returned to college, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in 2011 from Alabama Southern. He was a native of Uriah, resided in his later years in McCullough, and was a member of the Huxford Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maston M. Mims Sr. and Jorette Bowman Mims; his wife, Sonya Robinson Mims; his brother, Maston M. Mims Jr. and his son, Jody Mims.

Mr. Mims survived by two sons, Brandon D. (Kaylie) Mims of Robertsdale, Ala. and James Clayton (Ramona) Rabon of Frisco City, Ala.; one brother, Tom Riley (Nickie) Mims of Gleason, Tenn. and his aunt, Karen Bowman Watkins of Greeneville, Ala.; five grandchildren, Jones C.M. Mims, Jolie “Bubbe” Mims, Robwyn Cahill, Andrew Cahill and James Rabon as well as three great-grandchildren; also his dearest friends, Lester (Pat) Peavy, Frankie (Tara) Coon, Jason Howard, Hilbert and Eric Hall.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Wayne McMillian officiating. Interment will follow at Huxford Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.  at Petty Funeral Home in Atmore, Ala.

Pallbearers will be Currie McMullen, Matt Corneilson, Jeff Boone, Clay Rabon, Brandon Mims and Jones Mims.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Peavy, Frankie Coon and Gary “BoBo” Bryan.

Jack Lee

Mr. Jack Lee, age 91, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Englewood Health Care Facility in Monroeville, Ala. He was born in Frisco City, Ala. where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a retired welder for Dravo Corporation after thirty years of service; a member of the American Legion; a former member of the Monroe County Rescue Squad and a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Claudie Lee; four brothers, Robert Lee, Roy Lee, R.V. Lee and Otha Lee and two sisters, Essie Davis and Katie Henderson.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Mary Etta Lee of Frisco City; two sons, Jackie (Jill) Lee of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Scotty (Angie) Lee of Goodway, Ala.; his daughter, Melody (Jimmy) Brown of Megargel, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Josh Frye, Skylar Watson, Makaylin Brown, Addie Lee, Jackson Smith, Justin Lee, Kirstin Lee, J.J. Brown and Griffin Lee; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Old Sowell Field Cemetery in Goodway with Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating.

The family received friends Sunday, October 15, 2023 from l p.m. until 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home.

Margie Lee Weathers

Mrs. Margie Lee Weathers, age 83, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 in Mobile, Ala. She was born in Terre Haute, Ind. and has been a lifelong resident of Phillipsville, Ala. She enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, crocheting, specially making dolls and baskets. She liked to plant flowers, watch westerns, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Vacations in Branson, Mo. was something she greatly enjoyed doing along with taking care of people and attending church to worship her savior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Ethel Marie Green) Long and two husbands, Tommy Thompson, and Gene Weathers.
Mrs. Weathers is survived by her three sons, Robbie Thompson of Jackson, Ala., Thomas “TJ” (Tammy) Thompson of Phillipsville, Michael Thompson of Bay Minette, Ala.; two daughters, Terri Stone and Judy (Roger) King, both of Bay Minette; one brother, Melvin (Karen) Long of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Roberta Hedge of Terre Haute and Carla (Tom) Carson, Brazil, Ind.; grandchildren, Chris, Shannon, Brandy, Kathryn, Connie, Emily, Tammy Jo “TJ”, Colton, Trinity, Tyler and Ashlyn; great-grandchildren, Michael, Gabriel, Araleigh, Annaleise, Alivia, Isabella, A.J., Roselyn, and Asher, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Halls Fork Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 1p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Mary Virginia “Bell” Godwin

Mrs. Mary Virginia “Bell” Godwin, a beloved member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She will be remembered for her kindness, love, and unwavering spirit. Her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Godwin is survived by her loving children, Chastity (Bo) Hobbs, Chad (Catherine) Godwin and Joey (Kathy) McGugin; her grandchildren, Josh (Jordan) Peebles, Colton (Kaylee) Peebles, Nevaeh Godwin, Niko Godwin, and Niyah Godwin; her eight brothers, Roy Rolin, Walter (Anita) Rolin, Kenneth Wayne Rolin, Anthony (Jennifer) Rolin, Deno (Necole) Rolin, Johnny Mack Rolin, Aubrey (Natasha) Rolin and Shawn (Stephanie) Rolin;  her sister, Tonya (Wesley) Rayborn and her six special sisters, Dianna Rolin, Tina Rolin, Gloria Sells Krafka, Kathy McDuffie, Alice Gibson and Georgia Lee Griffey.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton Edward “Hawkeye” Godwin; her parents, Eugene Buster and Bessie Mooneyham Rolin; her great- grandson Baby Peebles; her three brothers, Donnie Rolin, Earnest Rolin and Harvey Rolin; her sister Peggy Sue Couch and her nephew Bradley Rolin.
The family received friends Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 6 p.m. until morning at Poarch Community Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, 2023 at 2 p.m. at McCullough Christian Church. Graveside services took place at Judson Cemetery in Poarch Ala.

Food and fellowship was held immediately after graveside services at Poarch Community Church. Everyone is invited and welcome to join the family.
Pall bearers will be Josh Peebles, Colton Peebles, Joey Barber, Jason Griffey, Adam Hadley, Phillip Godwin, Travis Daughtry and Dave Dunsford.

Adelene Wooten Rhinehart

Mrs. Adelene Wooten Rhinehart, age 96, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Escambia County, Ala. and lived in Canoe, Ala. She was a member of Cross Point Church. Her favorite thing to do was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Later in life, she enjoyed sharing stories of how she grew-up.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper Franklin (Lilla McClinton) Wooten; spouse, Cecil Rhinehart;  two children, Ronny Rhinehart, Janet Carlton; one son-in-law, Clarence Carlton; seven brothers, JD Wooten, Joe Wooten, John Wooten, Jack Wooten, Buford Wooten, Marshall Wooten, Bobby Wooten; six sisters, Estelle Johnson, Ella Mae Bell, Una Bea Tucker, Evelyn Johnston, Mazell Ashcraft, and Patricia Sims.
Mrs. Rhinehart  is survived by her one son, Scott (Sandra) Rhinehart; one daughter- in-law, Joyce Rhinehart; five grandchildren, Theresa (Leo) Collins, Tina (David) Morris, Sean (Melissa) Rhinehart, Brandon (Heather) Carlton, Britney (Eric) Marshall; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Joe) Pennington; one brother, Clark Wooten and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Bro. Otis Thames officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Alfred Oneal Chisolm

Mr. Alfred Oneal Chisolm, age 70, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023. He was born to the late Arthur and Myrtice Cody. He was a 1971 graduate of Escambia County High School. He spent countless hours working in his yard. He was employed with Masland Carpet.

Mr. Chisolm is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Joshua and Jaquan Coley of Atmore; son, Keith Barron of La.; daughter, Jewell Reese of Washington, D.C.; step-sons, Wilfred Finley of Atmore, Lawrence Jackson of Phoenix, Az., Brandon (Shakila) Jackson of Arlington, Texas, Jermia Jackson of Detroit, Mich.; step-sisters, Grace Ethel Coley of Detroit, Shelia Cody Darby of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Carol Cody Lee of Fayetteville,   N.C.: sisters-in-law, Lakeisha Finley and Purlie Eason, both of Atmore; brothers-in-law, Patrick Finley of Atmore and Athony (Stephanie) Finley of Detroit; a host of relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Second Chance Faith Miracle Holiness Church with Pastor Mary America, eulogist. Interment will follow at Lucious Cemetery.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were his family and friends.

Ruth Adrian Hadley

Mrs. Ruth Adrian Hadley, age 88, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Apalachicola, Fla. and resided in Rabon, Ala. before moving to Pine Grove, Ala. She was a member of Light House Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vidmer (Ruth Pace) Hadley;  husband, Eddie Bryars;  one brother, Lloyd Hadley;  three children, Juanita Vinson, Opal Lambeth, and Peggy Bryars.
Mrs. Hadley is survived by her grandchildren, Daryl Bryars, Shannon Vinson, Jackie Gardner, Adam Gardner, Nina Lambeth, April Lambeth, Lynn Lambeth, Chad Lambeth, Candy Gardner and one brother, Rodney Hadley of Chatom, Ala.; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
