Gideons presents award to ASB Marching Band

In July, history was made in Boston, and an Atmore resident became part of it.
The Alabama School for the Blind Band marched in the Lions Club International Parade of Nations in Boston, marking the first time the ASB band marched in a parade. Not only was this the first time the band had marched in a parade, they won first place in the Parade of Nations Division 1, High School Bands category.
On August 29, representatives with the Alabama Lions Club visited the ASB campus to present band members with a trophy, a plaque and the award for first place in their category. Atmore resident Bub Gideons, Lions of Alabama Council Chair, had the honor of making the presentation to band director Chad Bell.
Alabama School for the Blind is located in Talledega.
