Last Friday night, September 15, the Northview Chiefs swept past Lighthouse Private Christian Academy at home in Bratt. With a final score of 35-0, it is clear that the Chiefs’ season seems to be taking a turn for the better. Considering that it was senior night, this win was very important for the Chiefs.
In the first quarter, Northview received the ball on kick off. Chiefs senior Joe Wright ran the ball into the end zone for the first touchdown of the night. Devin Kelly also ran the ball in for another Northview touchdown shortly after.
Starting off the second quarter, Wright got another touchdown for the Chiefs. Later on, in the third quarter of the game, senior Wyatt Scruggs scored another touchdown for the Chiefs, and Brandon Ferguson kicked a good extra point.
The final score of the game was 35-0, making it a shut out. This was a big win for the Chiefs, considering that it was their first for the season. Fans, players, and coaches alike are hopeful for the future of Northview’s season.
Defensive Coordinator Jayce Gandy said, “I was proud of the way we came out and handled our business tonight. We have some things to clean up. The offense scored and the defense pitched a shut out. We saw some young guys step up tonight. We need to continue to get better, but this is a step in the right direction.”
The Chiefs have a bye this week to rest up and prepare to be on the road on September 29th in Elberta.
