Atmore police are investigating an August 24 incident during which a person was wounded when someone fired several gunshots into a Brooks Lane residence.
Atmore Police Department Sgt. Darrell McMann reported that officers were sent to the 100 block of Brooks Lane around 8:55 p.m. after dispatchers relayed a report of shots fired.
Officers discovered a residence had been hit by gunfire, and one person suffered an injury that was not life-threatening. The victim was treated at Atmore Community Hospital and released.
The victim did not see the shooter, and no witnesses could be located, but police were able to determine from where the shots originated. An Alabama Department of Corrections K-9 unit was called in to help search for a suspect, but the shooter could not be located.
The incident comes on the heels of a July 25 shooting incident on Brooks Lane that resulted in a 19-year-old Mobile man’s arrest for the murder of a 22-year-old Atmore man.
APD investigators are “pursuing leads” in the most recent shooting, said McMann, who urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact city police at 251-368-9141.
