The death toll from a June 18 wreck in Baldwin County increased to four on June 22 when Jeanna Speegle, wife of former Poarch Band of Creek Indians Chief Financial Officer Tim Speegle, succumbed to injuries she suffered in the crash, which also claimed the lives of her husband and two Pelham women.
Jeanna Diane Carlisle Speegle and Daryl Timothy Speegle, residents of Trussville, were traveling on Baldwin Beach Express when a Trailblazer rear-ended a pickup in the other lane, sending the pickup across the median and into the GMC Yukon driven by Tim Speegle. He was pronounced dead later at an area hospital, and his wife was critically injured.
According to the Trussville Tribune, Jeanna Speegle was a member and on staff at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Mountain Brook, where she had a ministry called ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out). She would regularly take 18-24 men to lunch at a time.
A celebration of life will be held for the Speegles at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 3736 Montrose Rd., Mountain Brook, AL 35213.
The family has asked that anyone wanting to send flowers consider instead making a donation to Founders Place or to the D. Timothy Speegle Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide a scholarship to a first-generation college student studying accounting at the University of Alabama.
