Betty Lou McGhee Caraway

Mrs. Betty Lou McGhee Caraway, age 76, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 surrounded by family. She was born in Atmore to Reverend Mace and Elba “Coot” McGhee. She was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. She retired after 41 years of service as PCI Property Control Coordinator. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Evon Menzel and Hazel Brice; nephew Keith Allen McGhee and niece Karen Menzel.

Mrs. Caraway is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, James Eugene Caraway, Jr.; four children, Kim (Jimmy) Flowers, Shane (Shannon) Caraway and Susan (Mark) Spruill, all of Atmore and Jacava (Lara) Mattison of Jacksons Gap, Ala.; brother, Mace (Carol) McGhee, Jr. of Bow, Wash.; two sisters, Clara Jones of Atmore and Karen (Jeff) Findley of Everett, Wash.; special friend, Sandy Everett and caregiver, Leslie Jarman; fourteen grandchildren, Trent Flowers, Corey Flowers, Katelyn Patane, Cierra Caraway, Mikayla Spruill, Dallas Rivers, Joshua Spruill, Parker Mattison, EmmaLee Mattison, Maddilynn Stewart, Brenlynn Stewart, Brennen Stewart, Logan Johnson, Amy Morris; eighteen great-grandchildren, Alli Flowers, Aubrey Flowers, Kintley Flowers, Avery Flowers, Gunner Flowers, Tyr Patane, Chandler Rivers, Rowynn Rivers, Branson Kade Bridges, Luxton Rivers, Emberlyn Johnson, Annistyn Johnson, Paislynn Stewart, Lucian Johnson, Blakelyn Holder, Serenity Phillips, Maliyah Phillips and Ella Phillips.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

Active pallbearers will be Boochie Jones, Brice McGhee, Xan McGhee, Mark Caraway, Tony Tolbert and Roy Pettis.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Ellis KaRon Stallworth

Mr. Ellis KaRon Stallworth, age 25, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, April 3, 2023. He was born to Douglas Stallworth and Mrs. Linda Stallworth. As a; young child he was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Methodist Church. He was a 2017 graduate of Escambia County High School. He loved to cook, whether baking, frying or sizzling, he wanted to be in the kitchen. He loved watching his favorite gospel programs.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandfather, James Harris, Sr.; grandmothers, Avila Craig and Clara H. Harris; aunts, Mildred Fisher, Juanita Grissett and Paula Craig; uncle, Lewis “Teddy” Stallworth.

Mr. Stallworth is survived by his mother, Linda H. Stallworth; siblings, Kendra Stallworth and Katurah F. (Renaldo) Stallworth Brooks, Sr.; nieces and nephews, Lamaria JaKaysia Stallworth, Bryce Lennox Hansell, Renaldo Jermaine Brooks, Jr., JaJuan C. Brooks and Reniyah A. Brooks and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Garrick Gobear Host Pastor; Pastor Cleitis Walker, Gaines Chapel AME Methodist Church and Evangelist Betty Cox, Eulogist; Dr. Rozlyn Hines, Presider. Interment followed at Oakhill Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, April 14, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Mayberry Funeral Home in Atmore.

Joann “Jodie” Clarke White

Mrs. Joann “Jodie” Clarke White, age 80, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023.  She was born in Mobile, Ala. to the late John Braxton and   T. Clarke. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Lavelle White; her brothers, Sonny Clarke and Stan Clarke and two great-grandchildren, Addy Kate White and Ben White. 

Mrs. White is survived by her son, Jon Steven (Kim) White of Fairhope, Ala.; her daughter, Jamie White (Joey) Brown of Atmore; her sister, Charlene (Earnie) Frost of Mobile, Ala.; five grandchildren, Clarke (Callie) White, Matt Amerson, Macey (Austin) Eicher, Tyler (Megan) White and Layton White; six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Noon at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry White and Speaker Earnie White officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers will be Austin Eicher, Matt Amerson, Clarke White, Dean Soutullo, Andy Oakes and Al Bondurant. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 11 a.m. until service time at Noon at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, Ala.

Johnny Ray Britt 

Rev. Johnny Ray Britt, age 71, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Bay Minette, Ala. He was born in Perry, Ga. and resided there until the past twenty years between Atmore, Ala. and Bay Minette. He was a Pentecostal Pastor for forty-two years, and was a truck driver for thirty-four years. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed sitting down watching westerns, with a good cup of coffee or enjoying a cold diet coke. He was an avid Nascar Fan and Georgia Bulldog Fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Newton Britt; mother, Margaret Hobbie Harpe; wife, Elaine Britt and one son, John Glynn Britt.
Rev. Britt is survived by his two sons, Michael (Kimberly) Britt of Bay Minette and Shannon (Victoria) Britt of Augusta, Miss.; one brother, Ronnie Britt of Savanah, Ga.; one sister, Connie Nixon of Byron, Ga.; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Guy’s Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Joe Welch officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.
