Walter E. Jury, Sr.
Mr. Walter E. Jury, Sr. age 78, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, April 17, 2023. He was born in Muncie, Ind. He was a United Methodist Church minister with the North Alabama Conference.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Jury; his son, Walter E. Jury, Jr. and his sister, Pam Regan.
Mr. Jury is survived by his wife of over fifty-six years, Betty Naomi Brooks Jury; his son, Jonathan S. Jury of Atmore; his daughter, Valorie (Kenneth) Mitchell of Nashville, Tenn.; his sister, Caroline (Jack) Smith of Naples, Fla.; his grandchildren, Kenneth Traa Mitchell, III, Leiana Grimes and Morgan Jury along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

Doris A. Adams
Mrs. Doris A. Adams, age 75, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in Milton, Fla. She resided in Flomaton, Ala. but spent most of her life in McDavid, Fla. She worked at a sewing factory for many years, and was a caretaker at Lake Stone for fourteen years. She enjoyed the outdoors gardening with both flowers and vegetables and loved to cook. She enjoyed reading, going fishing, and watching TV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Wilson (Evelyn Tolin) Johnson; husband, Jesse Edward Adams; one son, Timothy Edward Adams; four brothers, Willie Blackwell, James Johnson, Donnie Johnson, John Thomas Johnson; two sisters, Janie Milstead and Betty Ruth Johnson and one daughter-in law, Susan Adams.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her one son, Thomas G. (Nancy) Adams of Century, Fla.; one daughter, Dianne (Philip) Muse of Brewton, Ala.; one sister, Linda Faye Merchant of Century; two grandchildren, Austin Joshua Adams, Cody Ryan Adams and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. Doug Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Billy Merchant, Kevin Merchant, Richard Merchant, Tyler Merchant, Percy Johnson, and B J Johnson.

Melvin Monroe Curry
Mr. Melvin Monroe Curry, age 67, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Convalescent Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. A native of Escambia County, Ala., he grew up in the Nokomis Community. He attended Escambia County Training School and Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church in Nokomis. He worked as a laborer in the pulpwood industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow, Sr. and Rosie Mae Curry; his wife, Clara Dortch Curry; his sisters, Rosie, Mary, Irene, Lucy, Ethel, Catherine, Louise, and Josephine; brothers, Eddie, Willie, and Woodrow, Jr.
Mr. Curry is survived by his daughter, Denise Curry of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; his sons, Melvin Curry, Jr., and Charles Curry, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth McPherson and Savannah Salter, both of Atmore; two brothers, Samuel Curry and Aaron Curry, both of Atmore; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2023 from 2 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Rev. Dennis Stephens, Pastor of Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church – Nokomis, officiating and Bishop Darryl North, Host Pastor. Interment will follow in Mt. Shiloh Cemetery- Nokomis.

Rev. Dan Abner of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Atmore Nursing Center.
