Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff Heath Jackson confirmed April 10 reports that a county deputy was arrested last week for engaging in sex with an inmate who was in his custody.
Jackson said a complaint was received on April 4 that an Escambia County deputy had sexual contact with an inmate who was being transported to jail.
After an investigation and “thorough review” were conducted, ECSO Patrol Deputy Eric Glenn Lambeth Jr. was arrested on April 7. He was fired, then processed into the Escambia County Detention Center, his former workplace, on one count each of custodial sexual abuse and felony ethics violation.
He was released later, when $45,000 bond was posted on his behalf.
The sheriff said Lambeth previously worked in the county jail. He was assigned to patrol and sent to the law enforcement training academy in early 2022.
