Monroeville man arrested for meth possession

A 54-year-old Monroe County man was arrested here February 1 on felony drug possession charges after police received a report around 7:15 a.m. of a “suspicious person” loitering near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Ridgeley Street.
Atmore Police Department Sgt. Darrell McMann reported that officers questioned the man, later identified as Michael Amos of Monroeville, and “developed probable cause” to search him.
The search turned up “a small amount of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine,” as well as “a glass pipe with a crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.”
Amos was arrested on one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in the Escambia County Detention Center late Monday, February 6, under a $5,000 bond.
