Pattie Walker has been named Human Resources (HR) Recruiting Coordinator for the Escambia County Health Care Authority (ECHCA) for both D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital (DWM) and Atmore Community Hospital (ACH). Pattie steps into a new position created to recruit employees for the ECHCA system.
“We are excited that Pattie has joined our team,” ECHCA Interim CEO Stephen Fischer said. “As it is with every organization across the health industry, finding qualified candidates is very difficult. Add a rural setting to that and it becomes a struggle for every open position. Pattie brings a capability that we feel will help us recruit and retain employees that will be the future of our organizations.”
Prior to joining ECHCA, Walker was the public relations director, grant writer and Community Champion for Monroe County Hospital in Monroeville. She held the same position from 1996 to 2006 as well as being the director of Monroe Health Foundation. Walker also served as provider relations manager for both LV Stabler Home Health and Homestead Hospice in Greenville, Ala.
Walker has a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Relations and Journalism from Troy State University. She has served on multiple boards and committees including Kiwanis Club of Monroeville; United Way, chairperson; and Network Member of the UAB / O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Partnership. Walker also acted as Community Champion through the Delta Regional Healthcare and led community partners as they met needs identified in Community Health Needs Assessments.
“Pattie’s role as HR Recruiting Coordinator began on December 1,” ECHCA HR Director Heather Walton said. “She will be meeting and working with our managers across the system to recruit employees. We welcome Pattie to the ECHCA Team and on her new role.”
