The Atmore Lions Club met September 21 in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church. President Chuck Brooks opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, followed by the blessing delivered by Lion Dr. Kevin Garrett. Seventeen members and guest Willie Hawthorne were present.
President Brooks reviewed dates members need to mark on their calendars: Oct. 22, Williams Station Day; Oct. 29, can food drive at Walmart with food and proceeds going to Atmore Area Christian Care Ministry; Dec. 10, Christmas parade; February, Camp Rap a Hope; March, golf tournament; and April, spaghetti supper.
District Governor Lion Bub Gideons was the speaker and discussed the organization of Lions and things he has learned since taking on his new position of leadership in the state. He also encouraged members to attend the district convention in Pike Road on March 17-18, 2023.
