Edward Marvin Myles 

Myles

Mr. Edward Marvin Myles, Sr., age 71, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at his residence.  A native of Atmore, he was a graduate of Escambia County Training School as well as, Alabama A&M University and Auburn University. He was a retired high school educator. And during the football season Mr. Myles could be found tailgating in his RV at various football games. He had served in the Navy Reserve.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Myles; his parents; a daughter, Vanessa Myles.

Mr. Myles is survived by his son, Edward M. Myles, Jr. of Cameron, N.C.; a daughter, April Myles of Huntsville, Ala.; four sisters, Arlean Ellis of Fairfax, Va., Barbara Fisher of Century, Fla., Mildred Young of Laurel, Md. and Carolyn West of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Billy Elmore of Huntsville, Ala. and Percy Elmore of Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Zion Star AME Church with Rev. Jean Archie, Pastor, officiating.

Analyssa Nevaeh Gabrielle Britton

Ms. Analyssa Nevaeh Gabrielle “Bum Bunk” Britton, age 16, of Flomaton, Ala., passed away, Saturday, August 13, 2022 in Robertsdale, Ala.  She was born in Pensacola, Fla. and resided most of her life in Flomaton.  She loved shopping, swimming, music, and snapchat. She enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball. All of her years growing up, she liked to be center of attention. She was always a very vibrant girl, and never forget her “phone” being her life line of her life.    

She was preceded in death by her mother, Melissa Godwin; one brother, Journey Lee Asher Britton; grandfather and grandmother, Walter Britton, and Barbara Ann Andrews; grandfather, Joe Godwin and great-grandmother, Nancy Wright.

Ms. Britton is survived by her father, John (Amy) Britton of Flomaton; son, Kaide; grandmother, Tracy Godwin of Pensacola; four brothers, Jeremy Love Lady of Maplesville, Ala., John Allen Britton, Jr. and Emerson Britton all of Flomaton, and Colton Cardwell, of Brewton, Ala.; four sisters, Catilynn (Joseph) Stewart of Pensacola, Abigail Britton and Breanna Britton both of Flomaton and Madison Madden of Brewton; fiancé, Noah Hellinger; good friend, Natalie Hellinger; other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 19, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Rusty Burnham officiating. Burial followed at Beulah Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

James Darrell Hudson

Mr. James Darrell Hudson, age 49, of Atmore, Ala., passed away in his home Thursday, August 18, 2022.  In hospice care, he died peacefully in his sleep from advanced stage malignant Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  He was born in Mobile, Ala. to James Allen Hudson and Linda Mae Harris Hudson. As a youth, he was active in Big Creek Baptist Church and graduated from Mary G. Montgomery High School. For most of his career, he operated heavy equipment at the Alabama State Docks and most recently at P & R Mining, Inc. of Atmore. Throughout his life, he encouraged the younger generations to have faith and to have fun. He enjoyed learning family history, setting and reaching power-lifting goals in the gym, testing the off-road limits of his Jeep, and spending every possible moment with his family. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James Allen Hudson in 1998 and his brother, Bill Hudson in 2017.  

Mr. Hudson is survived by his wife, Tiffany Moore Hudson; his children, DesiRee Passarelli, Zoey Scruggs, Christian Tamez and Destiny Tamez; his grandsons, Raydon and Bobby Passarelli; his mother, Linda Mae Harris; his siblings, Robert “Bob” Hudson (Trudy), Clovis “Peewee” Hudson, Catherine Annette Wilson, Tammy Howard Clark, Melody Hudson Owens (Richard) and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews who remember their adventures and shenanigans with “Uncle Darrell”, the biggest kid of them all. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland, Ala. Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10 a.m. for family and friends to share memories.

Troy Steven McNeil

Mr. Troy Steven McNeil, age 52, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 in Brewton, Ala. He resided in Atmore, Ala. most of his life but has resided in Brewton the past fourteen years. He was a heavy equipment operator with many years of service. He enjoyed mud racing, dirt track racing, dune buggy racing and the big monster trucks. He always enjoyed watching “Impractical Jokers.” He enjoyed cleaning his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston McNeil and Omie Joyce Aldridge McNeil and one brother, James Darrell McNeil.
Mr. McNeil is survived by his loving wife of twenty-one years, Connie Frazier of Brewton; four sons, Troy Steven Smith of Bay Minette, Ala., Brandon Lee McNeil and Cody Eugene McNeil, both of Atmore, John Edward McNeil of Brewton; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn McNeil of Brewton; four grandchildren, Ryder Smith, Preston McNeil, Baylor McNeil, Calla McNeil, numerous nieces, nephews, best friend, Tammy Gates and other relatives.
Funeral services was held Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Stuckey officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Starlington, Ala.

Andrea Etheridge

Mrs. Andrea Etheridge, age 56, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 in Perdido, Ala. She resided most of her life in Atmore, Ala. before moving to Perdido. She was an account for the utilities board with many years of service.  She loved spending time with her husband and playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed music, singing and playing the piano in church. She enjoyed her phone, especially to get on “Facebook” to see what was going on with friends and family. She enjoyed going dog hunting and “Alabama Football.”
She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Wiggins Greenwood; one son, Matthew Baisden; one brother, Donnie Gates and one sister, Debbie Gates.
Mrs. Etheridge is survived by her loving husband of twenty-eight years, Billy Etheridge of Perdido; one son, William “Sebren” (Shea) Etheridge of Flomaton, Ala.; two daughters, Britton Baisden of Century, Fla., Opal Suzanne Etheridge of Poarch, Ala.; one brother, Keith (Grettel) Wiggins of South Fla.; one sister, Elesha Pecevich, of Canoe, Ala.; three grandchildren, Britton Grace Respress, Jovi Saige Etheridge, Joseph Alton Sheffield, other relatives, and friends.

Robert Leroy McCall

Mr. Robert Leroy McCall, age 78, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 in Atmore, Ala. He resided most of his life in Atmore. He retired from the United States National Guard with many years of service. He enjoyed fishing, “Alabama Football” and Tab Benoit music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John O’Bannon McCall and Cynthia Murl Comalander McCall; two sisters, Gayle Juanita Smith and Helen Luverne Hughes.
Mr. McCall is survived by his one son, Robert “Ro” (Shannon) McCall of Atmore; one step-son, Dachary (Laura) McGowan of Atmore; one daughter, Michele (Jimmy) Jay, of Atmore; two step-daughters, Brandi (Charles) Snell of Saraland, Ala. and Jenny (Gary) Weaver of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, John (Maxine) McCall of Bratt, Fla.; four sisters, Annie Ruth Bryan and Nancy Smith, both of Atmore, Pauline (Horce) Pickern of Bratt, and Debbie Cribbs, of Pensacola, Fla.; thirteen grandchildren, Mikie (Holly) McCurdy, Jonathan (Brandy) McCurdy, Christopher (Stormy) McCurdy, Ashlynn “BabyGirl” McCall, Joshua Blake McCall, Kyleigh McCall, Mia Nichole Conner, Bubba McGowan, Breanna McGowan, Cheyenne Snell, Kennedy Weaver, Kolton Weaver, Kaydence Weaver; six great-grandchildren, Robert McCurdy, Chloe McCurdy, Wiley McCurdy, Gabriel McCurdy, Marina McCurdy, Tristan McCurdy, other relatives, and friends.

Helen Luverne Hughes

Mrs. Helen Luverne Hughes, age 76, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 in Atmore, Ala. She resided most of her life in Bratt, Fla. before moving to Atmore. She valued her time she has spent with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, working, playing softball and other sports. She loved “Alabama Football.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, John O’Bannon McCall and Cynthia Murl Comalander McCall; husband, Joseph Hughes; one daughter, Angela Gordon; one grandson, Allen Gordon, and one brother, Bobby McCall.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her one son, James Jimmy (Paige) Henderson of Savannah, Ga.; one daughter, LeAnne (Karla) Grissom of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, John (Maxine) McCall of Bratt; four sisters, Pauline (Horace) Pickern of Bratt, Annie Ruth Bryan and  Nancy Smith, both of Atmore, Debbie Cribbs of Pensacola, Fla.; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Alphonzo Floyd Caldwell

Mr.Alphonzo Floyd Caldwell, age 68, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Monday, August 8, 2022. He was born to Vannilla Caldwell and Forty Floyd. He finished Southern Normal High School, Brewton, Ala. He relocated to New Rochelle, N.Y. to live with his Aunt Lillie Garland. He retired from Con Edison Power Company and moved back to Pensacola residing there until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Jessie Culliver.

Mr. Caldwell is survived by his two sisters, Willa Jean (Horace) Johnson and Jeanette (Robert) Smiley of Albion, Mich.; three brothers, Gary Caldwell and Frank Culliver of Lansing, Mich., Hileary (Sandra) Culliver of Atmore, Ala.; one sister-in-law, Lisa Culliver of Jackson, Mich.; special cousin, Kemm Garland of Atlanta, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Presley Fluker Chapel, Brewton with Rev. Richard Benjamin officiating. Interment followed at Second Bethlehem Church Cemetery.

Sabrina Grace Rhamstine and Dagan Alexander Rhamstine

Infants Sabrina Grace Rhamstine and Dagan Alexander Rhamstine passed away peacefully in the arms of their parents Saturday, August 20, 2022. They were born to Alexander and Stephanie Roach Rhamstine in Pensacola, Fla. They are loved deeply by their family and friends.

They are preceded in death by their great-grandparents, William Coon and Mary Coon.

Sabrina and Dagan are survived by their father and mother, Alexander and Stephanie Rhamstine; their grandparents, Valeria Slevin (David Bowling), Timothy (Carrie) Rhamstine and Raymond “Eddie” and Kathryn Roach; their great grandparents, Barbara Rhamstine, Thomas (Maria) Rhamstine and Athalia Cherry and their uncles, Avery Rhamstine and Pierce Rhamstine.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Grove, Fla. with Bro. Joel White officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Margie Brown McGhee

Mrs. Margie Brown McGhee, age 81, of Poarch, Ala., passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022. She was born in Geneva, Ala. to Jack and Polly Davis Brown. She was a Dispatcher with Poarch Police Department until retirement. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chief Houston Lee McGhee; her daughter, Jacqueline McGhee Hadley; her great-grandson, Robert Everett “Rhett” Hadley and her siblings, Danny Brown, Larry Brown and Paula Hall.

Mrs. McGhee is survived by her daughter, Valerie L. McGhee (Nicky Hadley) of Poarch; her grandchildren, Valisa (Lee) Lambert, John (Amanda) Chance, Shane (Jessica) Hadley and Kelley (Matt) Cotton; her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Hadley, Mikenna Mattheiss, Hunter Chance, Easton Cotton, Weston Cotton, Lane Chance, Dalton Hadley and Oaklynn Cotton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Ward officiating. Interment will follow at New Home Cemetery in Poarch.

Maebell Staples

Staples

Ms. Maebell Staples, age 92, of Atmore, Ala. (Poarch Community), passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at her residence. A native of Lower Peachtree, Ala. she had been a longtime resident of the Atmore community. She was a seamstress who enjoyed cooking, singing, and gardening. She had been a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she had served as church secretary, member of the choir, and pastor aid board and most recently became a member of the First Baptist Church (McCullough Community). She was employed at church’s chicken in Atmore for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, and her brother.

Ms. Staples is survived by her daughter, Erica Staples Harris of Atmore; three sons, George Lassiter, Jr. of Beatrice, Ala., Farrell Staples of Atmore and Charles Staples of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Easter Westbrook, Shirley Morrissette and Lucinda Davis, all of Thomasville, Ala. and Rosie Day of Columbus, Ga.; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 26, 2002 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home (Face Mask will be required).

Regi Burkett

Mr. Regi Burkett, age 62, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Century, Fla. at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Century. He was employed with Westinghouse for many years. He enjoyed fly fishing and refurbishing reels. He always enjoyed planting a vegetable garden every year. He was a “Florida Gators Fan”. He was a big fan of Nascar Racing especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and loved collecting old fire extinguishers. He was a member of Century Vol. Fire Department, Station 5, for thirty-nine years serving as Chief from 1987-2017. He was the most influential person on building of the current fire house and the stations as of today.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie B. and Mary Lois Ray Burkett and one sister, Donna Jo Way.
Mr. Burkett is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Ann Burkett of Century, FL; one son, Ryan (Mariah) Burkett of Century; one daughter, Casey (Stephen) Roach of Grand Ridge, F.; three brothers, Roger (Katie) Burkett and Todd Burkett, all of Century, Fl., Trent (Marjorie) Burkett of Troy, Ala.; five grandchildren, Benjamin Roach, Reagan Roach, Samuel Roach, Carlton Roach, Liz Kelley;  numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alex Lorinza “Buster” Hollinger  

Mr. Alex Lorinza “Buster” Hollinger, age 90, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022, in Century, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Uriah, AL. He was a member of Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church and Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He was also a very skilled “Handy Man.” He served in the United States Army with many years of service. He enjoyed going camping on the sandbars. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, fishing, and playing gospel music. He had a very vibrant and bubbly personality, that he never met a stranger. He traveled many different places spreading the gospel with his gospel music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Lillie Mae Heathcock Hollinger; two wives, Patricia Ann Woods Hollinger and Yvonne Johnson Hollinger; two brothers, Dennis Cee Hollinger and Adam Lavon Hollinger; three sisters, Lucille Turk, Ernestine Lundy and Anna Jean Hollinger; one grandson, Denver Shuttlesworth.

Mr. Hollinger  is survived by his four sons, Phil (Serena) Hollinger, Gary (Tara) Hollinger, Jarrell (Angel) Hollinger and Darrell (Sandy) Hollinger, all of Uriah, Ala.; one daughter, Brenda (Michael) Helton of Atmore, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Tiffany (Brian) Marshall, Brandy (Clint) Lassiter, Austin Shuttlesworth, Alexis Hollinger, Dawson (Maggie) Hollinger, Colby Hollinger, Jarrell Hollinger, Jr; Anna Grace Hollinger; five great-grandchildren, Lydia Marshall, Tripp Lassiter, Brooklyn Marshall, Kade Marshall, Ryleigh Marshall; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Williams, Rev. Waylon Stuckey and Rev. Clifton Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Semirah Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Alfred G. Davis, age 83, of Milton, Fla., passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022. He was born in Atmore, Ala. He worked at Monsanto for thirty years, was a veteran of the Army National Guard, as well as a member of Olivet Baptist Church, The American Legion and the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oris E. Davis and Maude Tuberville Davis; brothers, John Earl Davis, Larry Davis; sisters, Mary Nan Carroll, Margie Armstrong and Sylvia Rhea.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of sixty years, Patricia Downy Davis; daughters, Rhonda Vega (Ron), Ramona Bennett (Scott); brothers, Bobby Davis (Rillis), Alan Davis, Wayne Davis (Laura), Harry Davis (Connie); grandchildren, Amber Garcia (Billy), Alyssa Turner, Somer Bennett, David Turner (Rachel); two great-grandchildren.

Ms. Eula Woods, age 62, of Evergreen, Ala., passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 in West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, Fla.

Derrick Lavon Johnson

Mr. Derrick “Juicy” Lavon Johnson, age 32, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022.He was born to Tara D. Johnson and Alphonzia Peoples. He was a 2008 graduate of Escambia County High School. He was employed as a truck driver with “My Brother’s Keeper.”

He was preceded in death by his mother, Tara D. Bullard.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Bryson; brothers, Pastor Brian L. Johnson, Joshua S. Peoples, Dominque Lee; sister, Deidra Lee and other siblings; great-grandmother, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, 2008 classmates and an influx of close friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Monroe Tucker, Jr officiating and Rev. Brian Johnson Eulogist.

Laura O’Dell Fantroy

Ms. Laura Fantroy, age 80, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022. She was born to the late Darcy and Alan Fantroy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and eleven brothers and sister.

Ms. Fantroy is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Fantroy; one son, Frandie Fantroy; one granddaughter, Jacqueline Fantroy; three great-grandchildren, all of Brewton and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Brooklyn Cemetery, Brewton with Rev. Robert McWilliams, officiating.

Mrs. Orie D. Kyles, age 82, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, August 15, 2022. She was born to the late Robert and Lanie Sims in Red Level, Ala. She was a member of Harris Street A.O.H.       Church cooking, taking care of her family and helping others in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three children, James Kyles, Jr., Tommy Kyles and Teresa Fountain; five sisters, Lenabell, Louise, Annie Mae, Christine and Roxie Lee; six brothers, Albert Lewis, James, Floyd, Lloyd, Elzie and Willie; two grandchildren, Kody Fountain and Tommy Kyles, Jr.

Mrs. Kyles is survived by four sons, Eddie (Jean) Kyles of Moss Point, Miss.; Jimmy (Gloria) Kyles and Patrick (Shaqunia) Kyles, all of Atmore and Christopher (Kim) Fears of Salem, Ala.; two daughters, Shirley Kyles Hubert and Angela (Arthur) Colston, all of Atmore; twenty two grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and caring neighbor Patricia McCaster.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle with Bishop Q. Mitchell, officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were her grandsons and flower bearers were her granddaughters and nieces.
