Former Escambia County High School standout basketball player Lue Williams was recently named to the ACCC (Alabama Community College Conference) Men’s All-Region 22 team and gained the high honor of being named as the ACCC Player of the Year.
This season, Williams averaged 18.4 points per game this season and gained 441 total points. In addition, Williams stole the ball 41 times, gained 73 assists, had only 33 personal fouls and averaged over 30 minutes of playing time per game. Williams gained over 1,000 career points as a Sun Chief. Williams also maintained a 3.5 grade point average.
Williams becomes only the third player in Coastal Alabama history to earn player of the year honors and the first ECHS alumni to gain the honor. Williams graduated from ECHS in 2019.
Williams’ performance while at Coastal Alabama on the court and off has earned him a one-way ticket to Division 1 school Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas. Williams will join the team next season.
