ECHS continues to struggle on the diamond

The Escambia County High School baseball team continues to look for success on the diamond after suffering a painful 13-1 loss last Thursday (March 10) to Pleasant Home.
ECHS was unable to contain Pleasant Home’s high-powered offense as the opposing team gained 1 run in the first-inning and racked up 5 more in the second. During the third inning, ECHS gave up 3 more runs and 2 in the fourth.
Hasten Dean scored the only run for the Blue Devils during the fourth inning. Dean went 1-for-2 at the plate, leading ECHS in hits.
Jamrion Robinson took the loss for the home team on the mound. The lefthander went 4 innings, allowing 13 runs on 12 hits and struck out 2 batters.
Pleasant Home scattered 12 hits in the game with 4 players gaining multiple hits. The opposing team was error free and Landon Kelley had the most chances for Pleasant Home in the field with 11.
In addition, ECHS also suffered a 16-1 loss Tuesday (March 8) to Theodore.
The Blue Devils had a tough time containing the strong Theodore offense as the opposing team opened up scoring 4 runs during the first inning, 2 runs in the second, 4 runs in the third, 1 run in the fourth and 5 during the fifth and final inning.
Lebron Hooks gained the only run for the Blue Devils which was scored during the fourth inning. ECHS pitcher Hasten Dean earned the loss on the mound. Dean pitched four innings, allowed 15 runs on 11 hits and struck out only 1 batter. Brandon Dean threw 1 inning in relief.
Hasten Dean and Hooks led the Blue Devils at bat with 1 hit each and Anthony McCants made the most plays in the field with 4.
With the losses, ECHS falls to 1-8 on the season with the only win registered coming against Excel High School on Thursday, February 24.
The Blue Devils will next host W.S. Neal this Thursday, March 17, at 6 p.m.
