Ida Mae Buckhault

Mrs. Ida Mae Buckhault, age 61, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Atmore, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Atmore. She was a member of Holy Ground Holiness Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, and riding in the wagon

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Aubrey and Vivian Anderson Lister;  husband, Perry Buckhault; four sisters, Mavis Jean Star, Agadean Hamrick, Aline Robertson, Imogene Nall; three brothers, Charles Lee Lister, John Clavin Lister, and Daniel Lister.
Mrs. Buckhault is survived by her one son, Perry Joe (Mindy Jo) Buckhault of Atmore; two step-sons, James Buckhault of Atmore, Jesse (Margarie) of Flomaton, Ala.; one step-daughter, Michelle Buckhault, of Atmore; one brother, William Carl (Helen) Lister, of Fayette, Ala.; two grandchildren, Austin Buckhault, Makayla Buckhault; six step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Robert Lee Johnson

Johnson

Mr. Robert Lee Johnson, age 91, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, March 14, 2022.  He was born in Jackson, Tenn. to Henry and Beulah Johnson. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and later became a member of Robinsonville Baptist Church.  He was a proud winner of the Tennessee Senior Bowling Championship.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen A. Jones and his daughter, Phyllis Parks.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his son, Rev. Phil Johnson (Shea) of Atmore and three grandchildren, Dan, Ellen and Gabriel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at Noon at Robinsonville Baptist Church in Robinsonville, Ala. with Rev. Phil Johnson and Dr. Larry Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Robinsonville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Charlie Woods, Joe Ray, Jerry Janes, Andrew Willis, Dan Johnson and Jimmy Langford.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 21, 2022 from 11 a.m. until service time at Noon at Robinsonville Baptist Church.

Wanda Lou Smith Sperou

Ms. Wanda Lou Smith Sperou, age 75, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 in Atmore. She was born to Grover Frisco and Myrtle McKinley Smith. She attended Robinsonville Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Roy H. Smith, Billy W. Smith and Carvin McKinley and her sister, Hazel Strawbridge.

Ms. Sperou is survived by her son, Speros George “Bo” Sperou (Dacia Lee) of Jonesboro, Ark.; her brother, David G. (Brenda) Smith of Robinsonville; her sister, Patricia A. (Eddie) Baker of Robinsonville; her granddaughter, Shelbie Lea Sperou and her great-grandchildren, Jayden Carter Sperou and Cooper Andrew Sperou.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore. Interment will follow at McCullough Cemetery in McCullough, Ala.

Active pallbearers will be Bo Sperou, Ashley Smith, Keith Strawbridge, Mike Strawbridge, Troy Baker and Brandon Smith.

Earl Evan Manning, Jr.

Mr. Earl Evan Manning, Jr., age 90, of Roanoke, Ala, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, at Arbor Springs Health & Rehab Center in Opelika, Ala. An Aliceville, Ala. native, he was born to Earl Evan Manning, Sr., and Ernestine Neal Manning. He was a 1950 graduate of Escambia County High School and a graduate of the University of Alabama. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke, serving as a deacon. He was owner/operator of WELR Radio Station plus Better Vision Cable TV. He was one of the original core members of the Barnes Boys group who met annually for twenty years before the pandemic and is believed to be among the last of the remaining Barnes Boys.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Melinda Maynor; a son-in-law, Don Arlen Maynor, III; two sisters, Belle Manning Bachlor and Betty Manning Bowab.

Mr. Manning is survived by his wife, Mary Powell Manning of Roanoke; two sons, Evan Manning (Angela) of Roanoke and Cary Manning (Colleen) of Navarre, Fla,; nine grandchildren, Sonny Maynor, Meg Shelnutt, Jordan Maynor, Matt Manning, Jon Manning, Eric Manning, Caro Manning, Manda Manning, and Leah Manning; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke,

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home parlor chapel with Bro. Robert “BoBo” Gilpin, Bro. Terry Henley, and Bro. Eddie Bowab officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Maynor, Jordan Maynor, Matt Manning, Jon Manning, Eric Manning, and Caro Manning.

Steven C. Harris 

Harris

Mr. Steven C. Harris, age 72, of Germantown, Tenn., a native of Atmore, Ala., passed away suddenly Monday, March 7, 2022. He was born to the late Curtis B. and Marcelete H. Harris. He was a 1971 graduate of Tennessee State University, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He was a pilot for FedEx Corporation from 1984 until his retirement in 2010.

Mr. Harris is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda B. Harris; two sons, Steven D. Harris and Chad J. Harris; three grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Harris Luckett (Wayne) and Rosiland Harris McRae (Jerrol).

The family received friends Wednesday, March 15, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Noon at Hope Church Memphis.

Interment followed at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

Barbara “Bobbie” Eady

Mrs. Barbara “Bobbie” Eady, age 77, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at her home. She born in Lottie, Ala. She loved being a nurse, teaching Sunday school, dressing up, family gatherings, and sharing the gospel. She was an incredible cook and could out-shoot most anyone. She adored her large family and was blessed to be able to meet her 20 great-grandchildren. Her beloved friend Ann was her longest and dearest friend and was by her side until the very end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave Giddins and Myrtle Lambeth Giddins; her sibling, Avis Lindsay; her husband of fifty-seven years, Richard Eady; her daughter, Tracey Eady; her great-grandchildren, Trinity Long, Malaki Lender, and Blayne Shackelford.

Mrs. Eady is survived by her children, Cindy Eady, Duane (Tammy) Eady, and Daphne (Syd) Reed; her grandchildren, Shauntae Brown, Syndle Vinson, Jessica (James) Rockhill, Kimberly Hicks, Charity Eady, Alyssa (Andrew Harville) Blackburn, Allie (Matt) Shackelford, Briana Blackburn, Carlie Reed, Sydney Reed, and Chaynce Eady; her great-grandchildren, Kolten Coleman, Jordyn Shackelford, Ariel Vinson, Kyra Vinson, Blaiklynn Long, Serenity Vinson, Emma Rockhill, Ana Reece Bryant, Lyla Drew Harville, Abigail Rockhill, Maxwell Lopez, Mattie Shackelford, Bennett Rockhill, Ronan Lopez, Ellie Grace Shackelford, Beau Boudreaux, Nolan Lopez, and Kora Savannah Rowan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 3 p.m. with graveside immediately after at Dean Cemetery in Rabun, Ala.

Katie Elizabeth “Baby Girl” Johnson

Ms. Katie Elizabeth “Baby Girl” Johnson, age 71, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. She has resided most of her life in Atmore, Ala.She loved and raised so many children, there was always an open door to everyone. All the kids called her “Grammy”. She was called Moma Girl to Ashley Lee and Adam Teschel. She loved to read. She was a devoted Christian, and loved God with all her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Burley and Mazie Jewel Harrison Hanks; two brothers, Thomas Hanks, Kenneth Hanks; three sisters, Genene Baggett, Sara Waters, and Mary Griffis. 

Ms. Johnson is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie “Shone” (Bryan) Caro, of Cantonment, Fla., Toni (Wade) White, of Uriah, Ala.; one sister, Glenda Averette, of Atmore; four grandchildren, Katheryn (Zac) Aceto, Courtney Caro, Bryson Caro, Caleb White; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Avon Fowler, and Rev. Fred Stallworth officiating. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

Joyce Booth Knowles

Ms. Joyce Booth Knowles, age 69, of Butler, Ala., passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022.  She was born in Escambia County, Ala. to the late Isac and Ella Moye Booth. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Marie Booth and two brothers, Frank Booth and Willie Booth.

Ms. Knowles is survived by her sons, Donnie Blackman and Steven Knowles, both of Atmore, Ala.; her daughter, Rachael Knowles of Walnut Hill, Fla.; her brother, Robert (Tina) Booth of Excel, Ala.; her sisters, Edna (Jim) Powers and Mary Simmons, both of Atmore and Dorothy (Mac) Rolin of Walnut Hill; her grandchildren, Thomas Blackman, Ella Blackman, Crimson Blackman and Landon Blackman.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at Bowman Cemetery in Wawbeek, Ala. Interment will follow at Bowman Cemetery.

Ms. Patricia Burks, age 64, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Atmore Community Hospital

James T. Lyons

Mr. James T. Lyons, age 76, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, March 14, 2022. He was born to the late Cenell Grant and Leola Johnson. He was a 1963 graduate of Escambia county Training School. He served in the U.S. Army for four years and was employed with Masland Carpet for thirty-two years. He was a member the Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church. He was an advocate fan of “Alabama Roll Tide and the Dallas Cowboys. His leisure was enjoyed being with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Polly Stakley and one brother, Tommy C. Grant.

Mr. Lyons is survived by his devoted wife of forty-five years, Helen Lyons; six sons, Clint (Linda) Martin, Travis (Theresa) Dees, James (Erica) Dees, Tyrone (Veronica) Finklea, Donzell (Tenika Crook) Lyons and Darrick Lyons; two adopted sons, Renard Reynolds and Javirus Williams; three daughters, Diane 9Larry) Lee, Nikkie Dees and Lashanta Williams; one bonus daughter, Diedra Lyons; three sisters, Altovise (Carlos) McNeal of Montgomery, Ala., Janice Grant of Atmore and Juanita (Isaac) Dailey of Minnesota; five brothers, Larry (Fhelisa) Grant of Atmore, Bernard (Lisa) Grant of Bay Minette, Ala. and Bernard L. Bryant of Atmore; one brother-in-law, Eugene (Tawanna) Thomas; one sister-in-law, Hazel Nero; one special and devoted aunt, Evelyn Shurford of Millbrook, Ala.; special cousins, Marvin Grimes; nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; childhood friend, Ms. Lillie Johnson; special friends, Robert Grissett, Larry Brooks, Karun Jackson, Jackie tucker, Paul Hardy, Johnny Simpson, Mose Dailey and Donald Ray McKenzie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. William Hawthorne, Pastor and eulogist. Interment following at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his sons.

Emmie Alice Thomas

Ms. Emmie Alice Thomas, age 87, of Castleberry, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022. She was born to the late Pearlie Moncrease and Beatrice Hunter. She was a faithful member of Second Marietta Baptist Church in Castleberry, Ala. for many, many years.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Linda Moncrease and Sandra Thomas; five brothers, John Moncrease, Willie James Moncrease, Justice Moncrease, Richard Moncrease and Office Moncrease; three sisters, Eliza Thomas, Francis Moncrease and Suganah Moncrease.

Ms. Thomas is survived by her daughters, Patricia Desue and Loretta Richardson; four sons, Allen Moncrease, Gregory Moncrease, Jemere Thomas and Robert Lee Thomas; one sister, Helen Turner and a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a lifelong friend, Mary Gantt.

Graveside services were held Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Second Marietta Cemetery with Rev. Larry Blackmon, Pastor officiating.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Flower Bearers were her nieces.
