Charles D. Rice
Rev. Charles D. Rice, age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at his home in Century, Fla. He was born in Pollard, Ala. and has resided in Century most of his life. He remained independent to the very end. He was a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church. He pastored several churches in the surrounding area during his time in the ministry. He retired from the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. and also from Walmart in Brewton, Ala. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and also in the Florida and Alabama National Guard. Charles will be remembered a lot for the childhood and army day stories. He also enjoyed fishing with the church group and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Buckner and Lena Mae Childress Rice; wife, Winnie Ruth Rice; two brothers, James Rice, George Rice; four sisters, Florence “Flossie” Castillow, Kate Bondurant, Ellen Barrow, Betty Norwood and a daughter-in law, Nelda Rice.
Rev. Rice is survived by his one son, Roy Charles Rice, of Walnut Hill, Fla.; four daughters, Melody (Mark) Bondurant of Flomaton, Ala., Fay (Butch) Filligim of McDavid, Fla., Kay Yetter of Century, Fla. and Arlene (James) Crawford, of Gallion, Ala.; one sister, Vickie Hussey, of Hernandez, Miss.; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Mike Harper and Rev. Robert Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Barren Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.
Pallbearers will be John McAnally, Chad Sims, Joseph Merchant, Troy Merchant, Caden Peterson, and Carlos Koehn.

Lloyd Robert (Bob) Wade, Jr.
CDR. Lloyd Robert (Bob) Wade, Jr., MD, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at his home.
He was a proud veteran with 24 years of military service. He earned his wings in October 1965 and went to Vietnam in June of 1966. As a Vietnam veteran and Marine Corp H-34 helicopter pilot, Bob earned 21 air metals and spent 2 years in Vietnam. Returning to Pensacola Fla., he served for 3 years as a ground school and flight instructor before leaving the Marine Corp as a Captain in 1970, with a transfer to the Navy.
As a Naval officer, Bob attended medical school at the University of South Carolina and completed a residency in OB/GYN in San Francisco, Calif. He was stationed at the Naval hospitals in Yokosuka, Japan and Pensacola Florida, serving as the head of the OB/GYN department in Pensacola. He retired from the Navy in 1989.
Dr. Wade built a successful OB/GYN private practice at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where he worked for nearly 20 years. He was a quiet professional and touched the lives of thousands of families delivering babies over the course of his career. He was as even-keeled of an individual as you would find, never to high, never to low. If he didn’t have an answer he wouldn’t guess he would research the question until he had an answer. He was well respected among colleagues and a great friend to those who knew him.
Dr. Wade is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Brenda; two children, Samantha and Chip (Allison); three grandchildren, Ella, Ford, and Gibbs; one brother, Mike (Mandy).
A military funeral will be held Monday, March 14, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla.

Glen Stanford Morgan, Sr.
Mr. Glen Stanford Morgan, Sr., age 91, of Brandon, Miss., passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at his home. He was a native of Byrneville, Fla. born to Ira Stanford and Viola Brooks Morgan.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 67th MP Company. He was employed at Chemstrand Corporation in Pensacola, Fla., before later moving his family to Mississippi where he retired as a maintenance supervisor for Georgia Pacific Corporation in Monticello, Miss. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Flowood, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel Marshall Morgan; sister, Winnie Morgan; brothers, Winfred Morgan and Donald Morgan.

Doris Troutman Cooper
Mrs. Doris Troutman Cooper, age 88, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at her home in Bratt, Fla. surrounded by her family. She has resided most of her life in Bratt. She was a member of Bratt First Baptist Church. She owned and operated Coopers Grocery in Bratt for fifty-four years. She enjoyed gardening, cleaning and maintaining her yard and the store front. She enjoyed going to church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl (Maggie Mason) Troutman; husband, Lawrence Cooper; one son, Carl Cooper; one grandson, Bryant Cooper; two brothers, Fredrick Troutman, Leon Troutman; two sisters, Margaret Lockwood, and Mary Mayson.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by her one son, Marion Cooper, of Bratt; one daughter, Judy (Robert) Gilmore, of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Ouida McGill, of Atmore, AL; four grandchildren, Leslie Cooper, Lindsay Hale, Austin Cooper, Blake Gilmore, five great-grandchildren, Kendall, Bentley. Betty Jean (Baker) Wilmot
Mrs. Betty Jean (Baker) Wilmot, age 85, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at her home in Lake Lure, N. C. She grew up in Atmore, Ala, attended Brooks Memorial Baptist Church and was an Escambia County High School graduate. She earned her nursing degree from Sacred heart School of Nursing, Pensacola, Fla and practiced nursing most of her adult life. After her husband retired from the Navy they relocated to Okla. and after his death she and her family moved to Lake Lure. She was always quiet in manner and a talented artist having numerous paintings to her credit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wilmot; her parents, Houston and Gladys (Freeman) Baker and brother, Houston O’Neil Baker.
Mrs. Wilmot is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy (Wilmot) and Dale Jones of Lake Lure; her son, Steve (Lisa) Wilmot, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; granddaughter, Morgan (Jones) and David Simpson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandson, Jacob Jones of Lake Lure; brother, Dr. Wilmer (Mary Louise) Baker of Robertsdale, Ala.; sister, Cheryl (Baker) and Jim Vorse, of Greenville, S.C.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Atmore, will be held at a later date.

Mr. James (Candyman) Jones of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Atmore Nursing Home.

David Earl Fountain
Mr. David Earl Fountain, age 66, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022. He was born to Ima Ervin and Pineapple but was reared by his loving adopted parents, Andrew and Classie Fountain. He was a 1973 graduate of Ernest Ward high School. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He worked forty years as a transportation specialist with his last employment being Slay Transportation in Pensacola, Fla. He enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially to Walt Disney World. He enjoyed picking lottery numbers, watching westerns going to the Diamond Station at least 3 times a day, working is his yard and making people laugh. He loved spending time with his loving and devoted family most of all.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents; adopted parents; one grandson, Kody Fountain; brother, Cl8inton Felder, Jr. and one sister, Mary Ann Ervin Wiley; two sisters-in-law, Joann Mitchell and Annie Richardson; two brothers-in-law, Robert Redmond and Jerry Redmond; mother and father-in law, Sammie Lee and Rachel Redmond.
Mr. Fountain is survived by devoted wife of forty-nine years, Geraldine Fountain of Walnut Hill; children, David L. (Teresa-deceased) Fountain, Tongee (Kenneth) Fountain-Thames, Keithon Fountain, Patrice (Jamie) Fountain-Alvarez and Rachel Fountain; special siblings, Fannie Dortch, Carl Ervin Labarron (Scherrie) Ervin and John Ervin, all of Atmore, Ala., Robert (Ella) Felder of Little Rock, Ark.; eighteen paternal sibling; precious in-laws, Rev. Sammie Lee (Shirley) Moore, Fletcher Mitchell, Barbara (Randy) Boggan, Nolan (Nee-Nee) Redmond and Judy Redmond; host of grandchildren, nieces (special) Michelle 9De3wayne) Russell); nephews, special, Lamar Thames); aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mrs.Orion Craig James, age 86, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022. She was born to Gordon and Alice Craig in Marengo County, Dixon Mills, Ala. She was a proud public school graduate. She was one of the founding pioneers for Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. She was president of the senior choir; missionary society; member of both trustee board and pastor aide and member of the Eastern Star (Brewton Chapter). She was retired from Monsanto and State of Alabama Correctional Facility and worked man years for Albert’s Café.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cenny James; son, Ronnie James; daughters, Cenny R. McWhoter and Berlinda Howard; sisters, Ethel (Lord Hayles), Alma (Ernest Lee) thomas and Climiteen (James) Hopson; brothers, Gaius Craig and Willie Booker; special cousin, Birdie Mae Williams; mother and father-in-law, Pearline and Arthur James and all of the late Cenny James siblings.
Mrs. James is survived by two daughters, Deloris “PeeWee” Green and Christine “Kitty” Williams; nephew but reared as a son, William Thomas; one brother, Neolin (Catherine) Craig; thirteen grandchildren, Brian (Keyshia) James, Jamie (Beverly) James, Candy (Jerry) Redmond, “Anglies Whatley, Latonya (Vincent) Bynum, Krzemenksi Roberts, Rocky (Sonjia) Roberts, CenKrystal Roberts, Mashanda Green, Albert Williams, Diamond Williams and Ronnie James, Jr.; special granddaughter, Diamond Williams; special great granddaughter, K’Untra M.
