Escambia County High School Blue Devils kicked off the 2022 baseball season against Excel High School Friday, February 18, with a 17-0 loss against the Panthers.
The Blue Devils fell behind early during the season opener and failed to generate a comeback. Excel kicked off scoring with a double, 3 singles and a walk during the first inning.
Hasten Dean got the start on the pitcher’s mound for the Blue Devils. Dean allowed 7 hits and 7 runs over 1 inning and struck out 2 batters. Jamrion Robinson and Jacarion King entered the game as relief and threw two-thirds of an inning each. Dallas Owens led the Blue Devils at bat as he went 1-for-2 at the plate.
In all, Excel racked up 15 hits and 6 players collected multiple hits.
The Blue Devils will next travel to face Flomaton High at 6 p.m., Thursday, February 24, and will also face T.R. Miller High School on the road this Friday, February 25, at 6 p.m.
