An Atmore woman was arrested February 3 after she allegedly set a fire that destroyed a home near McCullough.
Escambia County Detention Center records show that 36-year-old Amy Michelle Ferrell was booked into the facility on a charge of first-degree arson.
Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Billy Blair reported that ECSO officers were sent to the scene of the destructive fire, in the 6000 block of McCullough Road, when firefighters were dispatched.
Ferrell was arrested by deputies after the home’s occupants reportedly took out their anger and frustration on her.
“We responded when the fire departments responded and initially took a report when the family allegedly assaulted the suspect for starting the fire that destroyed the residence,” said Blair. “After our initial investigation, we assisted the State Fire Marshall, and he presented his investigation to the Grand Jury.”
Ferrell remained in the county jail, without bond, late Tuesday morning, February 8.
