United Bank, a subsidiary of United Bancorporation of Alabama, Inc., was listed as the Best Small Bank in Alabama by Newsweek, part of the magazine’s 2022 list of America’s Best Banks, which the publication releases annually in partnership with LendingTree.
“This honor is recognition of our commitment to meeting our customers’ needs and providing an exceptional banking experience in even the most challenging times for our customers and our industry,” said Michael R. “Mike” Vincent, Chief Executive Officer and President of United Bancorporation of Alabama, Inc. and United Bank. “I attribute this award to the dedication of our outstanding team, our constant pursuit of innovation and our ability to earn the enduring loyalty of our customers over the years.”
In the announcement of its list of America’s Best Banks, Newsweek explained its criteria for recognition included an institution’s commitment to “paying a decent rate” on savings while also “keeping fees to a minimum.” Banks were also evaluated on their efforts to provide the digital tools their customers need to bank remotely and safely during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, among other factors.
According to the announcement from Newsweek, “We assessed thousands of FDIC-insured banks and credit unions, and the savings and checking accounts they offer, based on more than 50 different factors to land on best-in-class options in 26 different categories.”
