Closed for maintenance
CSX Transportation crews work Tuesday (November 30) on upgrading a rail crossing near Canoe. The crossings on Cowpen Creek Road, on which Escambia Academy is located, and Tumbling Lane will be closed for several days for maintenance. A spokesperson for Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the school can be accessed via North Canoe Road and Myrick Avenue or Randolph Avenue.

Two people were injured, neither seriously, in a Tuesday, November 23, three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Craig and Main streets. An Atmore man was charged with driving under the influence after he eventually crashed into a tree in front of O’Reilly Auto Parts around 5:40 p.m. last Tuesday (November 23). Boxcar arrives
This rail car, donated to the city by CSX Transportation, is destined to become a performance stage at the new parking lot under construction at the corner of Trammell and West Ridgeley streets. The boxcar was parked at the Howard Street crossing early Tuesday, November 30, awaiting its final destination. No estimate was given as to when it will be moved to the parking lot.
