An investigation that began just over three weeks ago resulted in the arrest Thursday, December 9, of a woman who is charged with having sex with a Flomaton High School student while she was working as an athletic trainer at the school.
According to a press release issued by Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff Heath Jackson, ECSO investigators began on Nov. 15 to look into a formal complaint that Kelsie Lauren Johnson, 26, of Flomaton was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Johnson was on loan from another, unspecified school system and was assisting Flomaton High with its student athletes. She was removed from her position after the formal complaint was filed.
Sheriff’s office investigators determined that Johnson had violated state law by participating in a sexual encounter with a student under the age of 19. She was taken into custody and charged with one count of a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student.
The former FHS employee was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center and was released Friday, December 10, on bond.
