An Atmore man was charged with driving under the influence after he eventually crashed into a tree in front of O’Reilly Auto Parts around 5:40 p.m. last Tuesday (November 23). Police reports show that Eric Peters, 66, who was driving a 2015 Chevy Malibu, veered off the roadway and traveled roughly 40 feet before hitting a street sign and an embankment. He then traveled another 60 feet before striking the tree. He was arrested after being treated and released at Atmore Community Hospital.
