The Atmore Lions Club met in the Mayson Auditorium at Atmore Community Hospital Wednesday, November 3.
President Taylor Lee called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Lion Patty Davis gave the invocation. Guests Tommy Lee, John Hiebert, Courtney McBride, and Talerie McGhee were welcomed as visitors.
Lion Patty Davis introduced Tommy Lee, a pilot with Pilots for Christ, and Courtney McBride, Public Speaking Coordinator for Pilots for Christ, as guest speakers. The two gave a history of the program and told about some of the situations where Pilots for Christ was able to provide a valuable service for patients by flying them to far off destinations for medical appointments and treatments, and then returning them home again.
Lion Taylor reported the club made $650 selling mops and brooms at Williams Station Day, collected $516 in cash and hundreds of food items during the canned food drive last week, and also reported the club had about 30 at the membership drive meeting on November 2. Plans for the Christmas parade were discussed as was a donation to the Atmore Police Department for Shop with a Cop.
Lion Kenny Smith and the West Escambia Utilities Board are now located in their new building on Ridgeley Street. Fellow Lions celebrate with Smith and his staff on their new building.
