The Atmore Lions Club held its regular meeting on July 21, at the Mayson Auditorium of Atmore Community Hospital.
Lion Club President Taylor Lee called the meeting to order and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Lion Kevin Garrett gave the invocation. Visitors Jennifer Sanders, Beth Parmer, Noah Brown, and Niki Bryan were introduced.
Lion Taylor discussed trash pick-up and announced that Lion Renee Hardy would be in charge of this one. Lion Chuck Brooks volunteered to head the Taste of the South committee. The group voted to donate uniforms for elementary students as one of the service projects for this year. Volunteers were solicited to travel to Camp Seale Harris July 28 to cook and serve the campers there.
Atmore Lions Club was recognized for being the oldest sponsor of Cal Ripken Baseball with 66 years of sponsorship. The money given to the team is used for uniforms and the team name.
Niki Bryan was introduced as the Executive Director of Main Street Atmore and presented the program on Main Street. She described it as making Atmore the place where businesses thrive and people become close together. This is done with the organization using strategies of organization, economic vitality, promotions, and design.
Following the meeting, a group picture was taken of Lions with the thank-you picture presented to them by the Cal Ripken League.
