News Staff Report
One of casualties of 2020 was the in-person Distinguished Young Women program in Escambia County. Coordinator Suzanne Barnett and her team tried to make last year’s program as normal as possible, but that was difficult since the contestants couldn’t be together and everything was done remotely.
This year however, Barnett hopes DYW is one of the things getting back to normal.
“After a lot of praying and planning and replanning, we are set for our face-to-face program!” she said. “Our number of contestants is small, but we will have as normal of a program as possible.”
The scholarship program is changing venues this year, from the auditorium at Coastal Alabama Community College in Brewton to the Flomaton High School Auditorium. Save the date – Saturday, July 31, 6:30 p.m.
