Stanley Otis Stuart
Mr. Stanley Otis Stuart, age 68, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021.
He was born to parents, Holt and Jeanette Stuart, in Atmore. He was a 1970 graduate of Escambia County High School and went on to major in Criminal Justice at Auburn University. He served in law enforcement as Chief Deputy for the Escambia County Alabama Sheriff’s Department and Chief of Police for the Poarch Creek Band of Indian Reservation. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Atmore. He enjoyed being outside, gardening and tinkering.
Mr. Stuart is survived by his wife, Jan Hall Stuart; son, Eric Stuart (Angela) of Walnut Hill, Fla. and daughter, Rebecca Stuart Durbin (Blaine) of Spanish Fort, Ala.; four grandchildren, Dillan and Lane Stuart and Audrey and Kari Anne Durbin; his sister, Karen Stuart Dickey (Ron) of Gadsden, Ala. and his brother, Michael Stuart of Walnut Hill.
He was preceded in death by parents, Holt and Jeanette Stuart and brother, Kenneth Stuart.
A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Dorothy Ann Dorriety
Ms. Dorothy Ann Dorriety, also known as “DeeDee” or “Dot”, age 79, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Atmore. She was born on in Huxford, Ala. to the late W.C. “Jack” and Luverne Parker Dorriety. She was a wonderful mother, beloved aunt and sister. She was a hard worker and had a sense of humor like no other. She has been a true friend to so many and has enriched the lives of many nurses and co-workers throughout the years. During her registered nursing career of many years, she proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 until 1962. She worked as the Director of Nursing for Atmore Community Hospital and the Alabama State Prison System, Holman and Fountain. She also was employed with The University of South Alabama Burn Unit and at the same time worked as the Director of Health Services at the Albert P. Brewer Development Center in Mobile, where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark Anthony Carlquist; two brothers, Winston Dorriety and Herston Dorriety; her sister-in-law, Kathy Dorriety and her great niece, Elizabeth Dorriety.
Ms. Dorriety is survived by her brothers, John (Joyce) Dorriety of Atmore and Roy Dorriety of Attalla, Ala.; her nieces, Jonice Dorriety Casey, Caroline Prater and Catherine Casey; nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, Jimmy Dorriety; John David (Candace) Dorriety; Davison Dorriety and Findley Dorriety; Greg (Donna) Dorriety; Will Dorriety; Allison (Jay) Newman; Miles Newman, Alexander Newman and William Newman; her sister-in-law, Gwen Dorriety and her beloved Stella.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Father Gordon Milsted officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.

Kenneth L. Register
Mr. Kenneth L. Register, age 71, of Stockton, Ala., passed away Monday, June 14, 2021.
He was born on in Bonifay, Fla. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps and received multiple military decorations to include: Silver Star, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, two Vietnamese Campaign Medals, three (3) Purple Hearts, Combat Action Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal. He loved his family more than he loved himself, always reaching out to help those who could not help themselves.
He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Krebs of Lynn Haven, Fla.; brothers, Mark Register of Anniston, Ala., Tony Thomas of Hilliard, Fla.; sisters: Brenda Fowler of Cantonment, Fla., Becky Kosmas of Pensacola, Fla., Gale Harrell and Dee Robinson, both of Waycross, Ga, and many nieces and nephews.
Kenneth’s Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.

Gloria Beasley Gilman
Mrs. Gloria Beasley Gilman, age 71, of Bratt, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Ray and Priscilla Howell Beasley. She was a nurse at Greenlawn Hospital in Atmore for many years and later worked as a private duty nurse before she retired. After retiring, she loved reading her Bible, being involved in all of her grandchildren’s activities and spending time at the camp at Hubbard’s Landing with her family. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bratt and was a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Gilman is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Robert Gilman; two sons, James (Donna) Gilman and Philip (Heather) Gilman of Bratt; her sister, Raeanne (Jimmy) Long of Loxley, Ala.; her brother, Ray, Jr. (Penny) Beasley of Robertsdale, Ala.; four grandchildren, Kyla (Jeff) Furman, Amber Gilman, J.P. Gilman, Jamison Gilman; numerous nieces, nephews and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Family Life Center at the First Baptist Church of Bratt with Pastor Josh Long officiating. Burial will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.
Active pallbearers will be J.P. Gilman, Jeff Furman, Jimmy Long, Sr., Brad Johnson, Ray Beasley, Jr. and Ray Beasley, III.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class.

Tony and Maxine Gibson
Mr. Tony Gibson, age 82, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021. Maxine, age 72, passed away a little over one year ago but were unable to have a public burial due to Covid. Tony served as a Pastor in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida for almost 50 years with Maxine by his side.
They are preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Loree.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibson are survived by their children, Tony Gibson Jr. (Faith) of Woodstock, Ga., Cyndy Gibson (Steve) of Birmingham, Al., and Sonya Crisman (Brian) of Crestview, Fla.; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grands; his brother and sisters, John of Tampa, Fla, Brinda Willingham and Carole Taylor, both of Bay Minette, Ala.
Our family is rich in life because of them and because of their love. Come celebrate with us.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Bay Minette, Ala.

Jerry Mitchell Peavy
Mr. Jerry Mitchell Peavy, age 66, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Uriah, Ala. He always loved working on his “Cars”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Victor (Era Mae) Peavy; four brothers, James, Thomas, Charles and Larry Peavy; one sister, Mary snow and one granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Peavy.
Mr. Peavy is survived by his two sons, Justin Peavy of Uriah and Jason (Chasity) Peavy of Milton, Fla.; one brother Donnie (Donna) Peavy of Uriah; one sister, Betty Watson of Robinsonville, Ala.; special friend, Nancy Lambert of Evergreen, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Layla and Emily Peavy, Kaya and Jadyn Peavy, Alayna Lowery, Jax Lowery and Nolan Lowery, one great-grandchild, River; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Stuart Dewayne Burrell, age 62, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021. He was born to the late Reverend David Burrell and Moverne B. Barnes in Nokomis, Ala.
He was preceded in death by Cynthia King and Debra Burrell; maternal grandparents, Roosevelt and Martha Burrell, the late Deacon Raymond and Mary Barron.
Mr. Burrell is survived by his sister, Brenda Mathis of Powder Springs, Ga.; brother, Maurice Burrell; nieces, Quanette (Tim) Crenshaw, Lakeisha Leslie, Julia Reeves, Latoya McDaniel; nephews: Shawn (Jeanelle) Barron, Derrick Barron, Eric Barron and Keith Barron; special cousin, Shirley Brown, special aunt, Agnes Wilson and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 21, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Bishop Catadro North, eulogist.

Ms. Belinda Ann Robertson, age 47, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021. She was born on to Charlie Roberts and Barbara Mitchell in Hattiesburg, Penns. She was a faithful member of Soaring Eagles Ministry in Bay Minette, Ala. under the leadership of Elder Willie C. Harris.
Ms. Robertson is survived by a daughter, Sha`rellanee Robertson; four sisters, Angela Robertson, Renee English, Kourtney Parker and Marquita Johnson and four brothers, David Robertson, Jeffery Robertson, Frank Johnson and Dewayne Robertson.

Robert E. “Bobby” Payne
Mr. Robert E. “Bobby” Payne, age 75, of Bear, Del., formerly of Atmore, Ala. and Birmingham, Ala. passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 in Deleware. He was a 1964 graduate of Escambia County Training School where he was a member of the band. He worked as a Director with AIG. He was known for his musical talent as a drummer and singer with the groups the “Singing Flames” and the “Weeknights”.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Mr. Payne is survived by his daughter, Jennifer; sons, Darrell, Rodney, and Sean; brother, Lonnie; and sister, Louise; and nine9 grandchildren.
Graveside service was Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Stallworth Cemetery with Rev. Willie Hawthorne officiating.
