Jessie L. Wiggins       

Ms. Jessie L. Wiggins, age 90, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Bratt, Fla. to the late Robert and Addie Cooper Wiggins.  She was a graduate of Ernest Ward High School. She was a secretary at Bratt Elementary School for many years then continued her career with Escambia County School District Office in Pensacola where she retired from the Purchasing Department. She was a member of East Brent Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Myra Brantley, Dorothy Norris, Essie Coleman, Thelma Holley, Henry Wiggins, Rufus Wiggins, Marvin Wiggins and Leon Wiggins. 

Ms. Wiggins is survived by her sister, Glyndal Robbins of Bratt; her loving nieces and nephews along with many friends and family. 

The family received friends Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home followed by a private family graveside service with Dr. Darrell Holley officiating. 

Active pallbearers were Greg Robbins, Brian Robbins, Ben Robbins, Heath Ward, Brad Purvis and Marvin Wiggins.

Carolyn McGhee Rackard

Rackard

Mrs. Carolyn McGhee Rackard, age 69, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Atmore to the late Kinzy and Ethel McGhee. She was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. She served eleven years on the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Election Board and was an Elder Benefits Assistant retiring after sixteen years of service. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lonnie Lee Rackard and her siblings, Joe Frank McGhee, Raymond McGhee and Willie Lois Fore. 

Mrs. Rackard is survived by her sons, Jason (Mary) Rackard of Atmore and Jeremy (Jasmine) Rackard of Loxley, Ala.; her grandchildren, Kinzie Rackard, Dallon Rackard, Destiny Ingelmon, Khalia Inglemon, Jackson Rackard and Macey Rackard; her siblings, Mary Gibbs of Atmore and Betty Sheppard (Gene) of Dothan, Ala. along with two fur babies, Zoey and Posey. 

A Homegoing Service was held Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Alton Lister, Bro. Jason Sims, Speaker Arthur Mothershed and Speaker Jackson Rackard officiating. Interment followed at New Home Cemetery in Poarch, Ala. 

Active pallbearers were Chet McGhee, Ken McGhee, Eddie Rolin, Cecil Corey, Jared Carlton, Robert Hollingsworth, Kevin White and Michael Woods.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert McGhee, Jake Carlton, Johnnie Hughes, John Reed, Slick Corey, Eddie Fore, David McNair, Chad White, Larry Flurnoy, Charles “Bo” Bray and David Gibbs. 

The family received friends Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

I. Jean Knowles

Knowles

Mrs. I. Jean Knowles, age 83, of Molino, Fla., passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  She was born in Bratt, Fla. to the late Aubrey H. and Agnes Velda Wiggins Ashcraft.  She loved her family dearly. She was of great faith and was a member of The Pentecostal Faith. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James “Pete” Knowles; her daughter, Toni L. Knowles and her brothers, Aubrey Kenneth Ashcraft and James Larry Ashcraft.  

Mrs. Knowles is survived by her sons, Terry (Cindy) Knowles of Cantonment, Fla. and Rusty (Melanie) Knowles of Molino; her daughters, Cindy Knowles and Vickie (Ken) Johnson, all of Molino; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

A graveside service was held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2:45 p.m. at Bratt-Godwin Cemetery with Rev. Rusty Knowles and Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.  Interment followed at Bratt-Godwin Cemetery in Bratt. 

Active pallbearers were Jonathan Knowles, Wesley Knowles, Nathan Johnson, Tyler Knowles, Karson Brown, Matt Blackburn, Jason Brown and A.J. Ashcraft.

Elijah Chase Mallory

Mr. Elijah Chase Mallory, age 17, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. He was born in Mobile, Ala. to Jacques Mallory and Brandi Roberts.  He was a student at Escambia County High School. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Hank Roberts and John Edward Mallory, Sr. and his uncle, John Mallory, Jr. 

Mr. Mallory is survived by his mother, Brandi Roberts; his father, Jacques Mallory; his grandmothers, Susan Smith and Daisy Lee; his siblings, Michael Pugh, Samuel Pugh, Toni Kittrell, Asia Kirby, Haleigh Brooks, Zoey Mallory, Joshua Dorriety and Noah Brooks; his aunts, Patricia Mallory, Lysandra Mallory, Shameka Mallory, Amy Farrell and Michelle Dorriety; his uncles, Vonclay Bennett, Sr., Titus Mallory, Sr. and Zacheriah Mallory, Sr. along with a host of cousins, family and friends. 

Funeral services were held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Atmore. 

Active pallbearers were Tashawn Mallory, Fredrick Mallory, Joshua Dorriety, Noah Brooks, Xavier Brown and Devin Morris. 

The family received friends Friday, May 21, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Jason Taylor Sims

Sims

Mr. Jason Taylor Sims, age 28, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021. He was born in Pensacola, Fla. to Jason and Dawn Sims. He was a 2011 graduate of Northview High School and a member of Highland Baptist Church. He was currently employed as a Senior Associate Consultant with Aerotek and a proud partner of Sims and Son, LLC. He previously worked with the Department of Corrections. Taylor was loved by a large extended family, as well as friends he considered family. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Sam Malloy. 

Mr. Sims is survived by his parents; his grandparents, Charlotte and Winfred Sims of Molino, Fla. and Bonnie and Craig Exner of Barrineau Park, Fla.; his brother, Zachary (Crystal) and Bowen Ryker Sims; his aunts, uncles and cousins, Tricia (Byron), Nathan and Will Davis; Chad (Stephanie), Lindsey, Bizzy and Kenzie Sims, Anna (David) Brantley, Barrett Gilley.  We cannot go without mentioning Taylor’s brothers from other mothers, Bo, Okoye, Chad and Caleb and his godparents, The Lathans and The Rawls.

Funeral service were held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Noon at Highland Baptist Church in Molino with Rev. Brian Calhoun officiating.  Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore. 

Active pallbearers were Shane Harigel, Bryan Josey, Chad Rigby, Orbin Albritton, Tony Lathan, Okoye Richardson, Chad Smith, Kaleb Purvis, Zachary Sims and Bo Bishop. 

The family received friends Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 10 a.m. until service time at Noon at Highland Baptist Church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shands Children’s Hospital.

Jason Edward Taylor

Mr. Jason Edward Taylor, age 45, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native of Pensacola. He was a loving father, husband, friend, son and step-father.

He was preceded in death by James Edward Taylor I, Mary Taylor and Greg Cook.

Mr. Taylor is survived by a daughter, Kayla Danyel Taylor of Atmore, Ala.; loving wife, Rhonda Lynn Taylor; two step-children, Christopher Brandon Knorr and Jamie Lynn Knorr, both of Atmore; mother, Terry A. Fredriksen of Satsuma Ala.; brother, Michael Anthony Lingo of Mobile, Ala. and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Sanchez officiating. Burial followed at Judson Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. a Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Christopher Knorr, Jason Davis, Taylor Flynn, Shawn Layton, Aaron Smedley and Travis Daughtry.

Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Gregson and Quentin Smedley.

James H. Caraway

Mr. James H. Caraway, age 92, of McCullough, Ala. passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021.  He was born in McCullough to the late James William and Sadie Still Caraway. He was a dedicated member and Deacon of Judson Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Caraway; his children, Larry Caraway and Eugene Caraway; his grandson, Jason Caraway; his granddaughter, Michelle Caraway; one brother, Henderson Caraway and his sister, Betty Moore.

Mr. Caraway is survived by his grandchildren, Justin (Magen) Caraway of McCullough and Mandy Caraway (Mitchell) Murphy of Booneville, Ala.; his sister, Pat Renfroe (Bob) of Dothan, Ala. and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday, May 24, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Judson Cemetery in Poarch, Ala.  Interment followed at Judson Cemetery.

Roy Wilbon Shivers Jr.

Mr. Roy Wilbon Shivers Jr., age 65, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Flomaton, Ala. He was a proud member of “The Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ (Wind Clan) and a member of Unity Baptist Church. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and he loved University of Alabama football.

He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-two years, Beckey Vickery Shivers; parents, Roy Shivers Sr. and Geneva; one sister-in-law, Penny Morris Shivers and many other family members.

Mr. Shivers is survived by his wife, Wendy Mothershed Shivers of Flomaton; four sons, Michael (Sherra) Shivers of Dothan, Ala., Brian (Rebekah) Shivers, Dakota Madison and Wyatt Madison, all of Atmore, Ala.; one brother, Kenny Shivers of Flomaton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 12 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Brother Ray Ward officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Pallbearers will be Jeremie Sharpe Sr; Steven Crutchfield, John Wesley McCullough, Johnny Griffis, Nick Shivers and Michael Shivers Jr.

Mr. Larry Richardson of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at his home.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Stallworth Cemetery.
