A truck driver was killed in a one-vehicle accident early Thursday morning (April 22) on Highway 97, Escambia County, Fla. The victim was a 52-year-old male from Mobile.

On 22 April, 2021, at approximately 06:22AM, the Florida Highway Patrol was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash involving a log truck on State Road 97 just south of Meadows Road. The log truck was traveling north on State Road
97 approaching Meadows Road when, for an unknown reason, the log truck traveled off the roadway, causing the log truck to collide with several mailboxes and a tree. The driver of the log truck was transported to the Atmore Community Hospital with life threating injuries. Once the driver arrived at the Atmore Community Hospital he was pronounced deceased.
