Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks has released the identity of a South Georgia man who was struck and killed on South Main Street this morning (Friday, March 26) by a tractor-trailer rig.
The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:39 a.m. mishap, is 31-year-old Clemente Terrance Sims of Iron City, Ga. Sims was reportedly hit by the cab of the semi, then dragged underneath the trailer, where his body was discovered by police and emergency medical crews.
The fatal collision reportedly happened “around the 1700 block of South Main Street,” between OYO Motel and Johnson Ford..
The driver of the truck, which is owned by Billy Barnes Enterprises of Frisco City, was reportedly uninjured.
Brooks said the fatality is still under investigation by city police.
