Chili Cookoff postponed until Feb. 27

Note: A front-page story in this week’s Atmore News announces that the cookoff is set for this Saturday, February 20. Chamber officials announced the postponement about two hours after the newspaper went to press.

Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce officials released the following announcement by email at 1:40 p.m. today (Tuesday, Feb. 16):”With the current weather predictions, it looks as though the originally scheduled date (Feb. 20) will be colder than what we have been facing in recent days. After much thought, the decision has been made to move the 2021 Chili Cookoff to Saturday, February 27. All other details will remain the same with the exception of the deadline to register a team for the Chili Cookoff has moved to Wednesday, February 24. “Entry into the event is free, but tickets to sample chili are $10. Each ticket will provide you with five serving tickets and one vote ticket. Participants will begin serving the chili to the public at 2 pm. The last call for chili servings will be at 3:45 pm. The final ticket collection will be at 4 pm with awards being presented at approximately 4:30 pm.Contact the Chamber today to enter the contest. Entry is free, and teams will receive $1 for every serving ticket collected.
