Tessie Althia Kimmons

Mrs. Tessie Althia Kimmons, age 45, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Tennessee, former resident of the Century, Fla. and Flomaton, Ala. area and had resided in Atmore for the past 16 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Al Godwin; father, Marvin E. Kimmons, II; grandparents, Buck and Annie Godwin; and sister, Miranda Kimmons.

Mrs. Timmons is survived by her two daughters, Nikki (Lance) Payne and Savannah Hart, both of Molino, Fla.; three brothers, Marvin “Pvine” Kimmons, Bradley Kimmons and David Kimmons; and two grandchildren, Collin Little and Willow Little.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 12, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. James Gay officiating. Burial followed at Pugh’s Chapel Cemetery in Molino, Fla.

The family received friends January, February 12, 2021 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Marvin Earl “Pvine” Kimmons, David Kimmons, Bradley Kimmons, Lance Little and Trent Little.

Robert Lawrence Fillmore

Mr. Robert Lawrence Fillmore, age 86, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. He was born in Escambia County, Ala. to the late Lawrence and Stella Godwin Fillmore. He was a member of Presley Street Baptist Church and was a welder, farmer and truck driver most of his life. He loved gardening and enjoyed turkey and quail hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Graham Fillmore; three brothers, Bill Fillmore, Jessie Fillmore and Jerry Fillmore; and two sisters, Jane Davis and Luverne Morton.

Mr. Fillmore is survived by his sons, Robert Glen Fillmore of Pensacola, Fla., Jeff Fillmore of Atmore, and Jason Fillmore (Julie McDonald), all of Atmore, Ala.; his sister, Sang Hayles of Atmore; one granddaughter, Skylar Fillmore; and his grandsons, Forrest Fillmore and Justin Fillmore.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at noon at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joseph T. Simpson officiating. Interment followed at Pine Barren Baptist Church Cemetery in Davisville, Fla.

Active pallbearers were Forrest Fillmore and Justin Fillmore.

The family received friends Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 11 a.m. until service time at noon at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Timothy “Moe” Kelley, Sr.

Mr. Timothy “Moe” Kelley, Sr., age 60, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home in McDavid, Fla. He was born in Pensacola, Fla. and had resided in McDavid all of his life. He was a 1978 graduate of Century High School. He was a pipe insulator with Vintage Petroleum and retired with 20-plus years of service. He loved fishing, golfing, boating, outdoors, doing yard work and Sunday dinner at Mom and Dad’s. He was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila Brown Kelley, and second wife, Rhonda Dixon Kelley.
Mr. Kelley is survived by his parents, Clyde “Buck” and Glenda Kelley of McDavid; one son, Lee Kelley, Jr. of McDavid; two daughters, Lindsey Kelley of McDavid and Parish (Joshua) Harrell of Bogia, Fla.; one brother, Brenton Kelley of Bogia; two sisters, Ellen (Darryl) Sims of Bogia and Beverly (Mike) Digmon of McDavid; two grandchildren, Piper Harrell and Rosemary Strachan; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Brown officiating. Burial followed at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

Jonathan David Cotton

Our beloved son, husband, father, nephew and cousin, Jonathan David Cotton was unexpectedly called home Saturday, February 6, 2021. Jonathan was born in Atmore, Ala. to John David Cotton Jr. and Kathryn Gail Cotton. He worked for Williamson Electrical and loved his job and work family. In his spare time, he loved riding four wheelers, working on projects with his dad and watching his girls play sports.

Mr. Cotton is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Hazel Crutchfield; John and Joyce Cotton; step-daughter, Daizee Angus; aunt and uncle, Diane and Lamar Smith.

Mr. Cotton is survived by his wife, Karmen Cotton of Flomaton, Ala.; daughter, Kayley Marie Cotton of Flomaton; step-daughter, Zoey Angus, of Flomaton; parents, John and Gail Cotton of Flomaton; aunts, Jennifer (Walt) Woodfin, Julie (Chad) Miller and Faye Bradley Coover; cousins, Steve Bradley, Cindy Baggett, Chris Smith, Allison Woodfin, Stewart Woodfin, Raeleigh Woodfin, Ansley Claire Miller and John Edward Miller.

The family received friends Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home with the family gathering from 5 to 6 p.m. and friends being welcome from 6 to 8 p.m.

A celebration of life was held Friday, February 12 at 10 a.m. at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home with Brother Ted Bridges officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Steve Foley, Jeremy Wise, Stephen Manning, Chris Smith, John Edward Miller and Stewart Woodfin.

Carolyn Elizabeth Whittington

Mrs. Carolyn Elizabeth Whittington, age 78, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 in Bay Minette, Ala. She was a native and former resident of Bay Minette and had resided in Lottie, Ala. for the past fifty years. She was a homemaker and loved caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved arts and crafts. She was an active member of the Lottie Fire Department for many years serving as secretary and treasurer and was a poll worker at the Lottie Fire Department. She was a lifelong member of Lottie Baptist Church and attended New Hope Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years Roy S. Whittington; parents, Jessie Jake and Millie C. Bell, and three brothers, Cleveland Bell, Huey Bell and Earl Ray Bell.
Mrs. Whittingdon is survived by her two sons, David Whittington of Lottie and Steve (Deborah) Whittington of Stockton, Ala,; three daughters, Becky (Rodney) Boyington, Sandra Whittingdon, both all of Lottie, and Lynn (David) Bishop of Fairhope; one sister, Katherine Bethea of Spanish Fort, Ala.; eleven grandchildren, Deanda (Danny) Hartley, Amber Bartley, Dara Plant, Kevin Boyington, Kayla (James) Long, Kevin Whittington, Ashley Banks, Erica (Drew) Minchew, Bradley Whittington, Lawrence (Leslie) Bishop and Darrell Bishop; and eleven great-grandchildren, Devon Hartley, Savannah Bruton, Lily van der Vlist, Karsen Plant, Maesyn Plant, Hadley Bishop, Hudson Bishop, Zoey Banks, Zayne Long, Victoria Minchew and Gracie Minchew.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Lee Harville and Bro. Malcolm Harrelson officiating. Burial followed at Lottie New Home Cemetery.

Hollis Ivan McKinley

Mr.  Hollis Ivan McKinley, age 77, passed away February 9, 2021. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late George W. and Mamie Louise Cunningham McKinley. He was a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps and a retired Millwright with Swift Lumber Company. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jeanette McWhoter. 

Mr. McKinley is survived by his children, Rhonda McKinley Thomas of Pensacola, Fla., Rex (Cindy) McKinley of Atmore, Ala; and Roxanne McKinley of Flomaton, Ala.; his stepsons, John Skipper of Atmore and Matthew Skipper of Richmond, Va.; and his sisters, Linda (Bill) Pinto of Marietta, Ga. and Carolyn (Art) Austin of Dothan, Ala.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

No formal services will be held.

Jillian Michelle Caraway

Ms. Jillian Michelle Caraway, age 38, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. She was born in Brewton, Ala. to Eugene and Kim Weaver Caraway. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Caraway. 

Ms. Caraway is survived by her mother, Kim (Billy) Walker of McCullough, Ala.; her children, James Morris of McCullough, Mia Morris, Brandy Morris and Colton Morris all from Bay Minette, Ala.; her brother, Justin (Magen) Caraway of McCullough; her sister, Kimberly (James) Dyal of Bay Minette, Ala.; her grandfather, James Caraway; and her niece, Hadley Caraway. 

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Morris Special Fund at First National Bank and Trust of Atmore, Ala.

Rochelle “Rocky” Elizabeth Lassiter Smith

Mrs. Rochelle “Rocky” Elizabeth Lassiter Smith, age 47, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 11, 2021. She was born in Monroeville, Ala. to Elizabeth and Doug Lassiter. She was the type of person you fell in love with the second you met her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a friend to everyone. Above all else, she was a Christian. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Doug Lassiter. 

Mrs. Smith is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Lassiter; her husband, Troy Smith; her children, Breanna Bennett and Chandler Smith; her brother, Tim Lassiter; her sister, Roxanne (David) Martinie; and her granddaughters, Hartleigh Pierce and Brayleigh Smith. 

Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Atchison officiating. Interment will follow at McCullough Cemetery in McCullough, Ala. 

Active pallbearers will be Zack Cook, Tim Lassiter, Trey Hayles, Hunter Pierce, Chance Miller and Chandler Smith. 

Honorary pallbearer will be Troy Smith.

Blanch B. Cheatham

Mrs. Blanch B. Cheatham, 94, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Thursday, February, 11, 2021 at Century Nursing Home. She was a native of Munson, Fla. and a longtime resident of Brewton, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, and step-children.

Those left to cherish memories of her life are a host of step-grandchildren; one devoted, Chlora Cheatham Nunley of Douglasville, Ga., a host of step-great-grandchildren, and cousins.

Graveside service were held, February 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Old Baptist Hill Cemetery, Brewton, with Rev. Joe L. Hayes officiating.

Helen Jean Johnson

Ms. Helen Jean Johnson, age 77, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021. She was born to the late Frank Johnson and Annie Mae Johnson in Atmore. She attended Escambia County Training High School in 1961. She and her family relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y. where she worked as a Healthcare Aide Provider and continued her education attending Long Island University receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. She was a member of Messiah Baptist Church in Brooklyn. She was President of the Tennant Association of Florentino Plaza for over fourteen years. She organized health and wellness events as well as distributing school supplies. Her favorite sport was baseball and loved attending games at Yankee Stadium with her best friend Annette McCoy.

She was preceded in death by her father; mother; sister, Shirley Ann Hutcherson; brothers, Frank Johnson, Jr., Joe Louis Johnson, and Charles Johnson; nieces, Sharron Brown and Shameeka Johnson; and nephew Joey.

Ms. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Cassandra Louree and Latasha Johnson; longtime partner, Calvin Youell; former partner, Ken Ramaswami; son-in-law, Curtis Louree; grandchildren, Giovonnni Louree, Dezire Louree, Charisma Louree and Finesse Bannister; brothers, Robert Johnson and Donald Johnson; sister, Jacqueline Edwards; sisters-in-law, Betty Johnson and Evelyn Johnson; God-daughter, Evette Burney; host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at noon at Robinson-Christian Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Connie Marshall officiating and Apostle W. Marshall, Eulogist. Interment followed at Stallworth Cemetery.

Linda Johnson Thames, of Atmore, Ala., (Freemanville Community), passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at North Baldwin Infirmary Hospital.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

Johnnie William Taylor

Mr. Johnnie William Taylor, age 77, affectionately known as Billy, passed away Sunday February 14, 2021. He was born in Atmore, Ala. and spent his life working and building his business and family here.

He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Taylor; his mother, Rosa Harrison Taylor; his brother, Homer Taylor; and his sisters, Dorothy Taylor Godwin and Callie Taylor Irwin. 

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Norma McCall Taylor of Atmore; their two children, Lynn Taylor Winters (John) of Monroeville, Ala. and Suzanne Taylor of Auburn, Ala.; their two granddaughters, Mary Taylor Winters and Lucinda Ruth Johnson who were the lights of his life; his sister, Doris (Sue) Gohagin of Atmore, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, beloved family members and friends. 

Graveside service will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore with a close family friend, Joseph (JJ) Jones speaking.   

Active pallbearers will be Dauphin Gohagin, Timothy Godwin, Jimmy Crook, Shawn Linam, Earl Dailey and Hooper Matthews.

Aubrey Stanley

Mr. Aubrey Stanley, age 85, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Henry Watterson and Ruby Bell Stanley. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Atmore. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Air Force for twelve years. He retired after twenty-three years with the Civil Service as Assistant Fire Chief serving at Saufley Field, Pensacola Naval Air Station and Subic Bay, Philippines where he was Crash Leader over the air field units. He was Commander for seven years with Billy Glenn Rushing Post 90 of the American Legion. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gertrude Childress; and his brother, Cecil Stanley. 

Mr. Stanley is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Hawkinson Stanley; his sons, Steven Aubrey (Kim) Stanley of Pensacola, Fla. and Christopher Watterson (Bridget) Stanley of Silver Hill, Ala.; his daughter, Leigh Ann Wooten of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; his brothers, Leonard Stanley of Atmore and Windom Stanley of Spanish Ford, Ala.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Atmore, with Bro. Don Davis officiating. Interment will be at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors in Spanish Fort, Ala. at a later date. 

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Atmore.
