Lois Shell Wiggins

Mrs. Lois Shell Wiggins, age 93, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She was born in Birmingham, Ala.  She was a former secretary, Sunday school teacher and a member of WMU for many years with Walnut Hill Baptist Church before becoming a member and Treasurer of First Baptist Church of Bratt, Fla.. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Claudie Mae Pipkin Shell and her husband of 72 years, R. Lee Roy Wiggins.

Mrs. Wiggins is survived by her sons, Larry (Pamela) Wiggins of Daphne, Ala. and Gary (Judith) Wiggins of Davisville, Fla.; granddaughters, Leah (Gary) King, Robyn (Brian) Andrews, Kerrie (Teryll) Boutwell, Melissa (Josh) McElhaney, Jessica (Terry) Levins, Amanda (Bobby) Walls and Deana (Shawn) Jones and twenty-three great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Roy Chewning officiating.

Sherry Ann Phillips

Mrs. Sherry Ann Phillips, age 54, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her home in Stockton, Ala. She was born in Pensacola, Fla., former resident of Atmore, Ala. (where she spent most of her life) and had resided in Stockton for the past eleven years. She was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. She loved her children, grandchildren and dancing. She was a Pipe Fitter/Boiler Maker by trade. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Gregson and Daisy Bell Rolin; daughter, Ashlynn Gregson and brother, Eddie Wayne Gregson.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her fiancé, Randall F. Melvin of Stockton, AL; four sons, Jerry (Tamaniek) Sanchez, Anthony (Jessica) Phillips, Chris (Jessica) Phillips and Cody (Amy) Phillips of Atmore; one daughter, Stephanie (Winston) Barron of Atmore, AL; one step-daughter, Tasha (Robin) Jackson of Bay Minette, AL; two brothers, Charles (Cheryl) Gregson of Atmore and Timothy (Megan) Gregson of Semmes, AL; three sisters, Robin (Larry) Barlow, Donna Nobles and Melaine Gregson, all of Atmore; twenty-two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Poarch Community Church with Bro. Jerry Sanchez and Bro. Trevor Daughtry officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 6 p.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Poarch Community Church.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Cody Phillips, Bryan Gregson, Aaron Gregson and Dakota Barlow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Gregson, Hunter Nobles, Steven Gregson, Corey Gregson, Thomas Owens and Zack Gregson.

Mavin “Dewayne” Williams 

Mr. Mavin Dewayne Williams, age 61, of Pensacola, Fla. passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021. He grew up in and around the area of Pensacola, Fla. He was an active member of Dogwood Park Baptist Church. His greatest loves were his Lord, who he served so well and faithfully and his beautiful family. He was known for singing Christmas Carols all year long with his beautiful voice, playing games and selling tractors for Smith Tractor Company. His great laugh could fill a room and did fill many hearts.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Williams; father, Mavin Williams; sister, Cindy Williams; father-in-law, Robert Cutler and brother-in-law, Dennis.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Janice; son, Eric; daughters, Kristen Kite (Brad) and Katelyn Williams; grandchildren, Annie and Brayden Kite; mother, Brenda Williams Fowler (Roger); brothers, Troy Williams (Debbie), Chad Williams (Beth);  nieces, Brittany Turner (Josh), Autumn Williams and Skyler Williams; mother-in-law, Virginia Cutler; sisters-in-law, Florence Cutler, Gail Hicks (Ken), Joni Boykin (Greg), Sherry Norton (Dennis); brothers-in-law, Bobby Cutler (Debbie), Eddie Cutler (Pam) and many, many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 8, 2021 at Olive Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the funeral service at noon. Dr. Benny Tate will be officiating. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Baptist Church.

Gloria Marie Rydzowski

Mrs. Gloria Marie Rydzowski, age 89, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2020 in Pensacola, Fla.
She was native of Century, Fla. and had resided in Flomaton, Ala. since 1993. She was a member of Flomaton 1st United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Ramon Francis Ray Rydzowski; parents, Robert Fleming and Ruth Dunn and Edgar Archer and granddaughter, Charity Joanne Rydzowski Polk.
Mrs. Rydzowski is survived by her three sons, Steven Ray (Donna) Rydzowski of McDavid, Fla., Paul Francis (Karen) Rydzowski of Wing, Ala. and Robert Craig (Ann) Rydzowski of Flomaton; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Waylon Stuckey and Rev. Cathy McKinley officiating. Burial will follow at Flomaton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Carol Ann Melvin

Mrs. Carol Ann Melvin, age 56, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at her home in Atmore, Ala.
She was a native of Summerdale, Ala. and had resided in Atmore for most of her life. She was a proud homemaker; she loved her family, children and grandchildren. Her hobbies were gardening, planting flowers and playing with her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lila Kendrick; sister, Jeanette Sells and two brothers, Robert Kendrick and Calvin Jackson Kendrick.
Mrs. Melvin is survived by her husband of seventeen years, Wayne Pruett of Atmore; one daughter and son-in-law, Latasha and Robin Jackson of Bay Minette, Ala.; four brothers, Carlton Kendrick of Bay Minette, Charles Kendrick of Camden, Ala., Melton (Rhonda) Kendrick of Atmore and David (Kristie) Kendrick of Foley, Ala. ; four sisters, Faye (Billy) Owens of Silverhill, Ala., Ann (Roland) Nelson of Daphne, Ala., Mary Lou (Anthony) Pizzotti of Fairhope, Ala. and Billie Ann Edwards of Atmore; two grandchildren, Chloe Jackson and Paxton Jackson, numerous nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Jacob Junior Walston

Mr. Jacob Junior Walston, age 44, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at his home in Century, Fla. He was a native of Pensacola, Fla. and had resided in Century for the past twenty years. He was a proud member of the NRA, he did odd jobs, helping family, friends and neighbors. His hobbies included guns, hunting, fishing and gun smithing in the Byrneville area. He attended the Vision Holiness Church.
Mr. Walston is survived by his father, Billy Boatwright of Century; mother, Diane Boatwright of Pensacola; wife of twenty-four years, Christine Elizabeth Walston of Century; one son, Nichols Walston of Century; two daughters, Emily Walston and Brittany Walston , both of Century; one brother, Jeremiah (Amy) Walston of Flomaton and two grandchildren, Brooklynn and Emmy Lou.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beulah Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. William Joseph “Joe” Bolton

Mr. William Joseph “Joe” Bolton age 85, a resident of Wetumpka, AL passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at a local hospital. He was the owner of a TV Repair and Sales business.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Hattie Winand Bolton Dennis; son William Joseph Bolton, Jr.;first wife, Irene Donaldson Bolton.

Mr. Bolton is survived by his wife of sixty-three years Dorothy J. Gohagan Bolton;  brother James C. (Tiny) Bolton;  children, Debbie (Randy) Byrd, Donna Bolton Herring, Jennifer Bolton Johnson; grandchildren, Jason (Jaimi) Byrd, Jordan (Tim) Jones, Philip Turner and Casey Bolton, great-grandchildren, Colton and Ethan Byrd, Lexi and Everli Jones, Zack Turner.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Lois Yvonne Stuckey, age 70, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Friday, January 4, 2021. She was born in Charleston, S.C. to the Archie Eagerton and Adele Mitchem Ryals.  She was a member of Dry Springs Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Archie Eagerton. 

Mrs. Stuckey is survived by her husband, Jerry M. Stuckey; her children, Pamela “Renee” Boyington and Jerry Wayne (Tracy) Stuckey, all of Walnut Hill, Anthony (Cathy) Stuckey of Castleberry, Ala. and Clifford (Katrina) Stuckey of McDavid, Fla,; her brothers, Loisil “Chip” Baker of Lake Martin, Ala. and Paul (Linda) Ryals of Walnut Hill; her sisters, Althea (Fred) Rudd of Saluda, S.C., Geneva (Leon) Hewett of Jackson Gap, Ala., Elaine Herndon of S.C. and Sherry (Donald) Williamson of Hogansville, Ga.; twelve grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Spence officiating.  Interment will follow in Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, Fla. 

Active pallbearers will be Jerry Wayne Stuckey, Dakota Stuckey, Troy Stuckey, Tony Hadley, Tony Chavers, Steve McCullough and Dustin Boyington.

Alfreda James

Ms. Alfreda James, age 61, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021. She was born in Wilcox County, Ala. to Arma Jaye and Mille Lee James. She was a member of Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church. She was a 1980 graduate of Escambia County High School. In 1997 she moved to Michigan City, Ind. where she became a caretaker for special needs adults.  In 2006, she moved to Birmingham where she was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church –  Pratt City, Birmingham, Ala., Rev. Dr. Collins Pettaway, Pastor, where she was a faithful member and served with the Number one Usher Board Ministry, a member of the Missionary Society and a member of the F.L. Callen Sunday School Class. She served cheerfully on various committees and was always ready to lend her assistance where needed. 

She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Dortch and a sister, Sharon D. James. 

Ms. James is survived by her sister, Marsella James and brother Frederick James, both of Atmore; two uncles, Peter (Elizabeth) Dortch of Washington, D.C., and Alvin Dortch of Montgomery, Ala.; two aunts, Mary Perry and Sharon Mitchell, both of Cleveland OH; a long- time friend, over forty years, Mary “BayBay” Smith and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 11 am at Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. JW Nichols, age 77, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Wallace, Ala. and had resided in the Byrneville-McDavid, Fla. area for most of his life. He loved Florida Football, boxing and fishing. He was a retired driller with Layne Central with 20 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Odel Nichols and three brothers, Alfred Nichols, William Nichols and Charles Ray Nichols.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Mary Nichols of McDavid, Fla.; one son, Jay Wesley (Theresa) Nichols of Atmore, Ala.; two stepsons, Chris (Cole) Champion of Monroeville, Ala. and Eddie (Tracy) Champion of Uriah, Ala.; two daughters, Tina Nichols Richerson of Brewton, Ala. and Kristie (John) Hamilton of McDavid; two brothers, Lee (Jean) Nichols of Flomaton, Ala. and David (Janice) Nichols of Semmes, Ala.; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Berone Banks

Mr. Berone Banks, age 84, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at his residence. A native of Atmore (Freemanville Community), he lived for over 40 years in Newburg, N.Y. where he worked for the DuPont Company. He enjoyed fishing and watching westerns.

Mr. Banks is survived by his two daughters, Mary (Chester) Dawson of Atmore and Linda Banks (Dwayne) of Raeford, N.C.; four sisters, Janice (Rev. Orsby) Millender and Minnie Banks, all of Atmore, Geneva Banks of Covington, Ga., and Gladys Banks of Hartford, Conn.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 15, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Bishop Bernard Bishop officiating.

Bishop Willie C. Howard

Bishop Willie C. Howard, age 84, of Atmore, Ala., Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Atmore Community Hospital. He was a native of Castleberry, Ala. and he attended school in Fairhope, Ala.

He was the Pastor of God’s Temple of Deliverance. In his leisure he enjoyed fishing.

Bishop Howard is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Evangelist Florastine Howard of Atmore; five daughters, Anniedell Arnstrad, Teresa Howard, Maeola Coleman, Miriam Miller, and Janice Howard; two sons, Willie C. Howard, Jr. and Jimmy Lee Howard; one sister, Emma Bates; 40 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.

Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11 a.m. at God’s Temple of Deliverance Church, 215 Antioch Road (Freemanville Community). Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with public viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.

Rickey Lee Montgomery

Mr. Rickey Lee Montgomery, age 58, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2021 at his residence. He was a native of Atmore and attended school in Escambia County (Ala.). He worked at Swift Lumber Co. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmison and Cherry Bell Montgomery; three brothers; and one sister.

Mr. Montgomery is survived by two sons, Jimmison Montgomery and Rickey Montgomery, Jr., both of Atmore; four sisters, Gloria J. Montgomery and Dorothy Robinson both of Atmore, Denise (Charles) Jackson of Huntsville, Ala., and Teresa (Ronald) Tolliver of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Derrick (Sandra) Montgomery of Atmore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, one aunt and uncle.

Funeral service was held Monday, January 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. at L & J Chapel of Turner Funeral Chapel with Bishop Darryl North officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.

Mr. Tony Richardson, of Castleberry, Ala., passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his home.
