Glenn Ray Taylor

Mr. Glenn Ray Taylor, age 76, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020.  He was born in Citronelle, Ala. to the late Robert Claytis and Ruby Jeffers Taylor. After being a lifelong teacher, coach and principal, he retired from the Escambia County Alabama School System. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of over fifty-three years, Janet Howell Taylor; his son, Glenn Allan Daphnelys Taylor of Gainesville, Fla.; his daughters, Suzanne Taylor (Chad) Helton of Atmore and Mandy Senn (Kris) Simmons of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his sisters, Evonne (Wendell) Beason of Satsuma, Ala. and Kathy (Bobby) Raines of Saraland, Ala.; his grandchildren, Taylor, Brett, Chaston, Parker, Grayson, Jace and Primrose and his great-grandchildren, Ella Kate, Maggie and Rhett. 

A private family graveside service was held Friday, November 27, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Austin Lee officiating.  

Active pallbearers were Chad Helton, Brett Helton, Chaston Helton, Allan Taylor, Kris Simmons and Donnie Faulk. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army.

James Gladyn Mothershed

Rev. James Gladyn Mothershed, age 85, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, November 23, 2020. He was born in Atmore to the late William Addison and Lila Mae Lambert Mothershed. He was a minister for over fifty years with West Side Baptist Church and later became a member of Mennonite Christian Fellowship in Atmore. He was instrumental in bringing many to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Dorothy Willene Mothershed Hall, Charles Mothershed, Eleanor Ernestine Mothershed Davis, Mary Audene Mothershed Sharpless, William Ford Mothershed, Carl Mothershed and W.D. Mothershed. 

Rev. Mothershed is survived by his wife, Joyce Lancaster Mothershed of Atmore; his daughter, Lisa Mothershed James of Fla. and his granddaughter, Alyssa McCoy of Fla.

Funeral service were held Monday, November 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Blaine Copenhaver officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore. 

The family received friends Monday, November 30, 2020 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Betty Joyce Nall Freeman

Mrs. Betty Joyce Nall Freeman, age 85, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020, in Jay, Fla.
She was a native of Century, Fla., former longtime resident of Flomaton, Ala. and Atmore, Ala. and had resided in Jay for the past eight years. She was a beautician at Eloise’s Beauty Shop for thirty years. She a member of Jay First Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edgar and Frances Nall; son, Randy Freeman; brother, Johnny Nall and sister, Mildred McDonald.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by two sons, Ronny Freeman of Flomaton and Rick (Doreen) Freeman of Hartselle, Ala.; nine grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Freeman officiating. Burial followed at Pollard Cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Rick Freeman, Ronny Freeman, Ron Freeman, Nigel Freeman, Harley Freeman and DeLuca Green.

Richard Jones

Mr. Richard Jones, age 52, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December. 5, 2020 in Macon, Miss. Burial will be held in Odd Fellow Cemetery in Macon with Lee – Sykes Funeral Home – Macon directing.

Helen Marie Williams

Miss Helen Marie Williams, age 67, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thanksgiving Morning, November 26, 2020 at her home. She was native of Atmore and attended Graham School in the Robinsonville Community. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Booker T., Sr. and Elizabeth Williams; three sisters, Renita M. Dean, Louise Williams, and Viola Williams; two brothers, Frank Williams and Clausell Williams.

Miss Williams is survived by two sisters, Mary Gosa of Atmore and Dorothy Jones of Detroit, Mich.; five brothers, Booker T. Williams, Jr. and Charles Williams both of Detroit, Lendl Williams of Atlanta, Ga., Leon Williams of Pascagoula, Miss. and Calvin Williams of Mobile, Ala.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Stallworth Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, December 4, 2020 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapell.

Sammy Andrews, Jr.

Sammy Andrews, Jr., age 75, of Repton, Ala., passed away Monday, November 16, 2020. He was born in Conecuh County, Ala. to the late Sammy and Clara Andrews, Sr. He graduated from Conecuh County Public School Systems and later obtained his vocational degree from Reid State Technical College in Commercial Truck Driving. He enjoyed his occupation for more than thirty years until his health began to fail. He was a member of the New Centennial Baptist Church #2 in Repton. He enjoyed riding motor cycles, pruning his lawn and watching wrestling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clifford Andre Andrews and sister, Inez Andrews.

Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife, Bettye Barnes Andrews of Repton; children, Sammy Andrews, III, Debra Ann Andrews, Clara (Shakel Holmes) Andrews, all of Repton, Donna Stallworth, Darren Stallworth, Dora Stallworth, all of Brewton, Ala., Michael (Lawanda) Andrews, Terry (Lisa) Andrews, Patricia (Marcellus) of N. C.; two grandchildren, whom he considered as his own, Andre D. Andrews and Brittany F. Andrews, both of Repton; siblings, Resindia Watkins, Bernice (George) Nettles, Joseph (Ann) Andrews, Willie (Marie) Andrews, Shirley Hinton, Pauline Andrews and Mack (Yolanda “YO-YO”) Andrews:; sister-in-law, Emma Jean (Clinton) Rudolph and brother-in-law, Robert Barnes and a host of grand-children, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at New Centennial Baptist Church with rev. Stanley Stallworth Officiating Eulogist. Interment was held in NCBC #2 Cemetery.

Pallbearers and floral attendants were his family and friends.

Willie James McCall

Mr. Willie James McCall, age 73, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020. He was born to the late William and Hattie Sue McCall, Sr. He was a proud graduate of Escambia County Training School. He was employed with Standard Furniture Company in Bay Minette, Ala. for more than forty years. After retiring he enjoyed time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Sandie McCall, Charles Ray McCall and Peter McCall, Sr.; one sister, Cora Lee Roper; one brother-in-law, Rev. George C. Sharp; nephews, Willie James Williams, Antonio D. Richardson, Dariontae Richardson, George Sharp, Jr. and George (Kevin) Sharp, Jr.

Mr. McCall is survived by a sister Rosie Lee Sharp of Atmore; one brother, William McCall, Jr., of Trenton, N.C.; life-long friend, Carolyn L. Brown along with her son, Bernard L. Bryant, who considered as his own, both of Atmore; his friends to the end, Anthony Stallworth, James Williams, Sr., Tookie Williams and Warnell Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends,

Graveside services were held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Pierce, Rabb-Montgomery Cemetery with Rev. Gordon Brooks, Sr., presiding and Rev. Dr. Monroe Tucker, Jr., Messenger of Strength.

Pallbearers and floral attendants were his family and friends.

Mrs. Myrtle Coombs, of Blanton, Miss., and formerly of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 in Miss.
