Linda Cheryl Rolin

Rolin

Ms. Linda Cheryl Rolin, age 58, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020. She was born in Atmore to the late Judge and Irene Tatum Rolin. She was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Ruth Rolin and Barbara Kimmons and her brother, Glen DeWayne Rolin. 

Ms. Rolin is survived by her brothers, Issac (Edna) Rolin of Atmore and Jerry (Nadine) Rolin of Brewton, Ala.; her sisters, Alice Rolin and Lorene Rolin, both of Atmore; her brother-in-law, Raymond Kimmons and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Funeral services were held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Poarch Baptist Church with Pastor Guy Heath and Bro. Melvin Rolin officiating. Interment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers were Kenny Rolin, John O’Barr, Lane Macks, Allen Fowler, John Brantley, Sr. and Cody Fowler. 

The family received friends Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 6 p.m. until service time at 11a.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at Poarch Baptist Church.

Jannie Holland Singleton

Mrs. Jannie Holland Singleton, age 84, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at her residence in Walnut Hill, Fla. She was born in Christian Home to Stanley and Mae (Brown) Holland. She was employed by Escambia County School District Transportation from September 30, 1970 to August 13, 2002 a few days shy of thirty-two years. She was a member of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church (where she sang in the choir) and former member of the Atmore Bowling League and Monroe Lanes.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Nolan (Buck) Holland, Jerry Holland and Wayne Holland; three sisters, Ruth (Peachy) Hopkins, Doris Amerson, Judy Blackmon and a great-grandchild, Addison Yvonne.

Mrs. Singleton is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, James T. Singleton (Pete) Sr.; one son, Theodore Singleton; three daughters, Glenda Holcomb (Frank), Barbara Dunsford Hollingsworth (Ronald) and Rebecca Blanton (Jeff); sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and sister, Betty Holland Blanton (Kenneth).

Graveside services were held Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery with Bro. James Boyd officiating.

The family received friends Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were John McAnally, David Dunsford, Ronald Hollingsworth, Frank Holcomb, Tony Rider and James Otis Singleton.

Honorary pallbearers were Hayden Hollingsworth, Logan Hasting, John Tyler McAnally, Austin Dunsford, Colton Dunsford, Mason Smith, Chandler Carter, Cooper Carter, Michael Singleton and Hudson Rider.

Arsee Davis

Davis

Mr. Arsee Davis, age 69, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020. He was born in Monroe County, Ala. to Rayford and Annie Ree Davis. He was educated in the Monroe County Public School system. He was a loyal and longtime faithful member of the Abundant Life Church of Deliverance. He was the president of the Willing Workers Board and served diligently and faithfully. He enjoyed Fishing, working on cars and spending much time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Angelia F. Montgomery; brothers: Henry Davis and Will Davis and sister, Carrie Riley.

Mr. Davis is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Aerial Johnson Davis; sons: Rodney (Brittney Holland) Williams; step-sons: Kendrick (Gina) Williams, step-son, LaBrice M. Johnson; brothers: Charles Davis and Steve Davis; sisters: Annie Sellers, Annie Nell Hudson and Callie Pearl Dean; eight grandchildren: Noah, Drake, Eli, Baby D, Re-Re, K.J., Mia and Ava and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Abundant Life Church of Deliverance with Chief Apostle Dr. Carolyn Bankes, Pastor and Eulogist and Bishop J.L. Bankes, Assistant Pastor officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Leo B. “Sonny” Maher, III

Mr. Leo B. “Sonny” Maher, III, age 78, of McDavid, Fla., passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native and life-long resident of McDavid.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Jr. and Eula Maher and his former wife, Mary Nell.

Mr. Maher is survived by four sons, Gary (BJ) Maher of McDavid, Tommy (Melissa) Maher of Cantonment, Fla, Chris (Joni) Maher of Pensacola and Kenny (Marsha) Maher of Byrneville, Fla.; two daughters, Janine (Bill) Snyder of Safety Harbor, Fla. and Melissa (Nathan) Scott of Jay, Fla.; one sister, Linda (Jim) Irby of Pace, Fla.; fourteen grandchildren, Megan, Kevin, Aiden, Sunny, Scott, Kevin, Jennifer, Jasmine, Taylor, Tyler, Shauna, Keaton, Leigha and Myles; nine great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Emberly, Karson, Cole, Alivia, Mary, Lakyn, Hazel and Bryson and numerous cousins, other family members and many friends.

Graveside services were held Friday, November 6, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family received family Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Robert Earl Godwin

Mr. Robert Earl Godwin, age 76, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in Mobile, Al. at Providence Hospital. He was born in Atmore, Ala. and was a life-long resident of Bratt, Fla. He was a farmer in Escambia County, Fla. and Alabama. He was a partner and the manager at West Florida Gin Company and was a former owner and pilot with Atmore Flying Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Sibyl Godwin and a brother, Larry Godwin.

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Elaine Godwin of Brat; one daughter and son-in-law, Cyndi and Scott Warren of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Shirley and Jim Riggs of Atmore; three grandchildren, Jarrod and Kate Dawson, Allie Warren and Davis Warren; special friend, Heath Ward; numerous nieces, nephews. other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery. Atmore, Alabama.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Paul Henry Dickerson Jr.

Dickerson

Paul Henry Dickerson Jr., age 73, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, December 5, 2020. He was born in Dothan, Ala. and grew up in Rutledge, Ala. He was a 1965 graduate of Luverne High School where he played football and played the trumpet in the band. He attended Alabama Christian and the University of South Alabama where he earned a B.A. in English, a M.S. in Education and M.Th. in Theology. He was a member of the Church of Christ ministering to congregations in Blackmon, Fla., Brewton, Flomaton, and Atmore, Ala. for over thirty years. He taught English and was a high school Guidance Counselor at Flomaton and Escambia County High Schools. He refereed football and was an avid photographer. He enjoyed fishing and drag racing.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Stewart Dickerson, Bro. Jeff Helms and Youth Minister Greg Faulk officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 13, 2020 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul H. Dickerson Sr and M. Gertrude Dickerson; and his niece Jennifer Faulk.

Mr. Dickerson is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Ruth; his three daughters and one son, Mandy and David Green, Leila Airhart, Paul Dickerson, and Sarah and Marcus Caraway; five grandchildren, Marion Green, Zoey Green, Brennan Dickerson, Grayson Dickerson, and Layton Dickerson; his sister Barbra and Billy Helms.

Christopher Shawn Caraway

Mr. Christopher Shawn Caraway, age 34, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Mobile, Ala.  He was born in Atmore, AL to William and Sherry Caraway. 

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bonita White; his aunt, Sharon Freeman and his niece, Jesslyn Caraway. 

Mr. Caraway is survived by his wife, Brittany Jackson Caraway of McCullough, Ala.; his parents; his children, Hunter Drake Caraway, Christa Alana Caraway, Marlin Ruger Caraway, Kenzly Delane Caraway and Jaxtin Coltwilder Caraway; his grandparents, Pete and Janie Caraway of McCullough, Ala, Sammy and Christine White of Flomaton, Ala.; his brother, Jessie (Emily) Caraway of Atmore; his mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Steve Cox and his special friend, Nikki McGhee. 

Graveside service will be held Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at the Caraway Family Cemetery in McCullough with his brother, Jesse Caraway officiating.  

The family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Frank Johnson

Mr. Frank Johnson, of Atmore, Ala., passed Friday, November 6, 2020, U.A.B. Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by.

Sheila Marie Tolin

Ms. Sheila Marie Tolin, age 52, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020. She was born in Atmore to Herman Elmore and Merle Harris Tolin. She was a 1987 graduate of Escambia County High School and an assistant manager at McDonald’s Corporation.  She attended the Gospel Light House Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Elmore Tolin.

Ms. Tolin is survived by her mother, Merle Harris Tolin of Atmore; her brothers, Roy Tolin and James (Tammy) Tolin, all of Atmore; her sister, Angie Tolin of Atmore; her nephew, James-Benjamin “Bean” Tolin and many aunts, uncles and extended family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tim Tew officiating. Interment will follow at Mineola Cemetery in Mineola, Ala.

Active pallbearers will be Russell Robinson, Thomas Davis, Sr., Bryan Davis, James Harris and Tim White.

Honorary pallbearers will be her uncles.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tolin family to assist with funeral expenses.
