Bertha Mae Knott

Knott

Ms. Bertha Mae Knott, age 62, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Thomas Hospital, Fairhope, Ala. A native of Atmore, she was a 1976 graduate of Escambia County High School and a faithful member of New Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, the mission board, and attended Sunday school. She enjoyed decorating and loved flowers. She had worked at Vanity Fair Company for over twenty years. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Lee, Sr.

Ms. Knott is survived by her mother, Odessa Lee – Jones of Atmore; one daughter, LaTonya Kemp; two sons, Christopher Lee and Bryant Knott, both of Atmore; three sisters, Gloria Jones, Delois Johnson and Kathy English, all of Atmore; one brother, Jimmy Lee, Jr. of Atmore; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.

Celebration of life service will be held Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Emanuel Faith Center (outdoors), 710 East Ridgeley Street, Atmore with Rev. Harold Askew officiating and Bishop Wayne Johnson, Host Pastor. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Frank E. Rollin, Sr.

Rollin

Mr. Frank E. Rollin, Sr., age 77, of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Monday, October 12, 2020. He was born in Elisa, Ala., to the late Frank M. and Lillie Mae Powell Rollin. He was a member of Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Days Assembly of God Church and was a truck driver most of his life.    

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alice Faye Gibson Rollin and his siblings, Jerry Rollin, Billy Rollin, Wayne Rollin, James Rollin and Lille Marie Rollin. 

Mr. Rollin is survived by his wife, Linda Smith Rollin of Bay Minette; his sons, Frank E. Rollin, Jr. of Stockton, Ala., Jerry Edward Rollin of Mobile, Ala., Andrew (Shay) Rollin of Period, Ala. and Robert (Jennifer) Gram of Cherokee, N.C.; his daughter, Becky Lynn Rollin of Bay Minette; his brother, Jimmy (Paula) Rollin of Bay Minette; his sisters, Irene Phelps of Stapleton, Ala. and Glenda (Raymond) Nelson of Fairhope, Ala.; eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Period Baptist Church Cemetery in Period with Bro. Don Sanks officiating.    

Active pallbearers will be Stephen Rollin, Shane Rollin, Kody Rollin, Dalton Plato, Quinton Brunson and Alia Vickrey.

Eddie James Snider

Snider

Mr. Eddie James Snider, age 63, of Hanford, Ala., passed away Monday, October 12, 2020.  He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late James F. and Woodie Lou Hadley Snider. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alice Faye Shuts. 

Mr. Snider is survived by his wife, Debbie Ann Booker Snider; his sons, Thomas “TJ” Robertson, Charles Snider and Derrick (Samantha) Snider, all of Huxford; his daughter, Crystal (Jason) Hardy of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sisters, Nancy (Curtis) Corey of Good way, Ala., Ann (Geno) Pele rose of Ga. and Patsy (Ron) Grasse of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Andy Boutwells officiating. Interment will follow at Hanford Community of Christ Cemetery in Hanford.   

Active pallbearers will be Charles Snider, Derrick Snider, Andy Boutwells, Timmy Booker, Tommy Booker and Jacob Stabler.

Mary Inez Long 

Mrs. Mary Inez Long, age 82, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in Montgomery, Ala. She was a native of Bay Minette, Ala., former resident of Cantonment, Fla. for 10 year and had resided in Canoe, Ala. for the past forty-nine years. She retired from Vanity Fair as a seamstress with twenty-five years of service. She loved visiting friends, drinking coffee, and gardening. She attended the Canoe First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, William Harold Long; daughter, Donna Sheree Long; parents, Morgan and Adies Durant; three sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Long is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Greg) Green of Canoe and Sonya Kaye (Farrel) Johnson of Stephens City, Va.; one brother, John (Jeanette) Durant of Bay Minette, Ala.; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Kyle Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Garden Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 16, 2020 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Brian Keith Gollotte

Mr. Brian Keith Gollotte, age 48, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at his home in Mobile, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Mobile. He was a 1989 graduate of Good Sheppard High School.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Seairra Gollotte; mother, Margaret Gollotte and brother, D’Wayne Gollotte.
Mr. Gollotte is survived by his father, Stanford W. Gollotte of Mobile; four sons, Keiden (Kayla) Gollotte of Mobile, Donavon Gollotte and Matthew Gollotte, both of Talladega, Ala. and Jacob of N. C.; two sisters, Darlene Walker of Theodore, Ala. and Charlene Allen of Irvington, Ala.; four grandchildren, Hayden, Krystalyn, Kinsleigh and Lynden and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Trevor Daughtry and Bro. Jerry Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Leslie Clyde Tuck, Jr.

Mr. Leslie Clyde Tuck, Jr., age 67, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his residence. He was born to the late Mary Frances Key Tuck and Leslie Clyde Tuck, Sr. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Danny Tuck and Lloyd Tuck and two sisters, Linda Tuck and Carolyn Tuck. 

Mr. Tuck is survived by his wife, Dorothy H. Tuck; his sons, Billy Wayne Tuck of Winter Haven, Fla. and Shawn Tuck of Highland City, Fla.; his daughters, Stephanie Tuck Albritton and Carrie Jowers, both of Douglas, Ga.; his brothers, Leroy Tuck of Homosassa, Fla. and Larry Tuck of Bonifay, Fla.; his sisters, Edith Morrison of Lakeland, Fla. and Elaine Schwartz of Bartow, Fla. and numerous grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Robin Ray

Mr. Robin Ray, age 64, of Perdido, Ala., passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at his home. He was a native of Grand Bay, Ala. and had resided most of his life in Perdido. He was a loving and caring son, father, grandfather and brother. He was a retired entrepreneur dealing in heavy equipment, gravel and farming. He was a “Legend”. He was preceded in death by his parents, WL and Sis Ray and Ruby and Dock Ganey; two brothers, Glenn Ray and Rodney Ray.
Mr. Ray is survived by three sons, Mark Ray of Daphne, Ala., Lucas (Tiffany) Ray of Spanish Fort, Ala. and Aaron Ray of Lumberton, Miss.; four daughters, Ammy Ray (Buddy) Roberson of Rabun, Ala., Bambi Ray Adams of Dover, Fla., Ciara Ray and Hannah Ray, both of Stapleton, Ala.; two brothers, Randy (Brenda) Ganey of Bay Minette, Ala. and Keith (Trish) Ganey of Dyas, Ala.; one sister, Peggy (Dewitt) Roley of Phillipsville, Ala.; twelve grandchildren, Caleb, Madison, Tyler, Jordan, Seth, Lakelon, Jax, Nicky, Kanyen, Hayden, Karter and Eastlon; two great-grandchildren, Cadence and Silas and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Springs of Life Church with Sis. Wanda Hadley officiating.

Hugo “Son” English

English

Mr. Hugo “Son” English, age 80, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his home in Brewton, Ala. He was a native of Pleasant Grove, Ala. and had resided in Brewton most of his life. He was a retired Correction Officer, as a Sergeant, with twenty seven years of service; retired from the Alabama National Guard, as a Sergeant, with twenty-nine years of service and owner of Sunshine Kennell for twenty years. He was a member of the Osaka Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kanie and Sudie English; three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. English is survived by his wife of sixty years and ten months, Eunice McMillan English of Brewton; children, Anita (Robert) Moye of Brewton, James Hugo (Sarah) English of Stanley Crossroads, Ala. and Sudie (Gerald) Steege of Walnut Hill, Fla.; one sister, Juanita (Earl) Gunn of Huxford, Ala.; five grandchildren, Robert, Sunni, Jonathon, Gerry and Tabitha; eight great- grandchildren, Madyson, Luke, Ben, Hollis, Addisyn, Maris, Wesley and Wyatt and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Waylon Stuckey officiating. Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Murray Dwane Ellison

Ellison

Mr. Murray Dwane Ellison, age 84, a native of Covington County, Ala., and a resident of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, October 16, 2020. He was born in Rose Hill, Ala. to the late Ammie Dewey and Ethel Dean Wasdin Ellison. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in various offices and positions for forty years retiring as Postmaster from the Flomaton Post Office, Flomaton, Ala. He served in the USAF from 1954 to 1958 during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of Judson Baptist Church serving in positions as Deacon, Sunday school Director and Adult Sunday school teacher over the years. His pastime was building cabinets and traveling with friends. He was a friend to everyone he met and will be remembered for his humor, generosity and honesty. 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ammie D. and Ethel Wasdin Ellison; two brothers, Phillip Ellison and Johnny Paul Ellison; four sisters, Vonteen E. Murph, Mildred E. Phillips, Louise E. Sessions and Hazel E. Fore. 

Mr. Ellison is survived by his wife, Ima Ree Jeter Ellison of Atmore; one son, Alan Dwane Ellison of Fairhope, Ala.; one daughter, Janet Leah and John Eric Brantley of Atmore; four grandchildren, John Walker and Katie Brantley and Scott Austin Brantley, all of Atmore, AL, Patrick Alan Ellison and Elizabeth Claire Ellison, all of Fairhope; two great-grandchildren, Walker Bruce Brantley and William Brooks Brantley, all of Atmore and one brother-in-law, Edwin Davison Fore of Atmore. 

Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Henry Wilson and Rev. Brett Chancery officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers will be John Walker Brantley, Scott Austin Brantley, Patrick Alan Ellison, Garrick Nesmith, Randall Barnett and Robert Berry. 

Honorary pallbearers will be John Dorriety, Atmore Post Office Retirees, ECHS-Classmates of 1954.

Barbara Lanette “Nette” Hardy

Ms. Barbara Lanette “Nette” Hardy, age 73, of Atmore, Ala., passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020. She was born in Atmore to the late Joseph and Hattie Phillips Hardy. She was a member of Lottie Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Lucille Zeringue and Lois Hall and her brothers, Louie Hardy, Leslie Hardy, Lamar Hardy and Leonard Ray Hardy.

Ms. Hardy is survived by her sisters, Latisha Phillips of Stockton, Ala.; LaBetty (Gene) Singleton and Sarah (Hoyt) Coon, all of Atmore and Linda Garrick of Greensboro, N.C. and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Monday, October 19, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Chris Pruitt officiating.

Rueben Earl Allen

Mr. Rueben Earl Allen, age 79, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, at his home in Perdido, Ala. He was a native of Davisville, Fla. and had resided in Perdido for the past forty years. He was a fisherman, loved guitar and was of the Holiness faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Allen; two sons, Joel “Joey” Allen and Woodrow Judge Allen and daughter, Marsha Beverly Allen.
Mr. Allen is survived by one son, Tommy (Wanda) Allen of Hahnville, La.,; two daughters, Wanda Kersey of Perdido and Tammy Sherrill Allen (Paul Claywell) of W. Va. ; two sisters, Linda Stewart of Stockton, Ala. and Ann Brooks of Pine Grove, Ala.; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Dean’s Holiness Church with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Dean Cemetery.

Jaden Monte James

James

Master Jaden Monte James, age 11, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020. He was born to Jermaine and Lashelby James. He was a 6th grade student at Flomaton Middle School in Flomaton, Ala. He enjoyed playing football with Alabama Roll Tide being his favorite football team. He enjoyed playing the fame of fortnight but his greatest love of all was church with hopes of becoming a great preacher. He was a faithful member New Beginning Christian Center.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Marie Smith, Buford Mae Stots and Essie Mae James Coleman and great-grandfathers, Fred Sims and Sam Calhoun.

Master Jaden is survived by his parents; siblings, Jermiah James, Jaleel James, Terrell Flavors and Tristan James, all of Atmore; grandparents, Fred and Sarah Flavors, Conway and Jacqueline James, Charlotte Carter and Mary Ellen Jackson (great-grandmother); host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Emmanuel’s Faith Center with Bishop Wayne Johnson, Presider and Bishop Tommie Thomas, Eulogist. Interment followed at Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jaleel James, Terrell Flavors, Tray Williams, Fredrick Flavors, LaJavius Johnson and Mashawn Johnson.

Ms. Annie (Ruth) Thomas Wallace Bolden Demery, age 95, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020. She was born to the late Ed and Ethel Thomas in Evergreen, Ala.
Ms. Demery is survived by her daughters, Mary E. Johnson of Newark, N.J., Evangelist Marilyn Wallace Ford of Murrieta, Calif; sons, Mickey and Kevin (Ameerah) Bolden of Corona, Calif; special step-daughter, Gloria Jean Bolden; grandchildren, Derrick Johnson, Yolanda Michelle Johnson, Lattona Johnson and Cassandra George, Tyrone and Stephane Wallace, Mickey, Jr., Kevin, Jr., Kevian, Dejana, Mile, Brock Bolden; hosts of great- and great-greaat grandchildren; brothers, William and Bernard (Wilma) Thomas; sisters, Bettye (Edward) Adams and Barbara (Willie) Dukes; nieces, nephe2ws, other relative and friends.

Narvie “O.D.” Dortch

Mr. Narvie “O.D.” Dortch, age 39, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020. H was born to Ella Dortch and Geno Martin in Atmore. He attended Escambia County High School and in 2016 joined Second Mt. Triumph Baptist Church but later joined New Direction Christian Center. He was employed at West Florida Cotton Gin and enjoyed fishing and his team “The Raiders” and cooking.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earnest James, Jr. and Bessie Mae Dortch, Ben and Sylvia Martin and Alice Murph; uncles, Buddy Dortch, Will Dortch, Jr., Clinton Dortch, Roy Martin, Walter Boykin, Albert Lee Haynes, Paul Johnson and one aunt, Mary (Samuel) Riley.

Mr. Dortch is survived by his mother, Ella (Pastor Cal) Abner; father, Geno (Belinda) Martin; special companion, Kissa Stevenson of Atmore; three daughters, Josaline Hollinger, Kirsten Hollinger, Ta’asia Wright; three bonus children, Charmia Hollinger, John Dirden and Jacob Dirden and one Godson, Logan Phillips, all of Atmore; sisters, Felisha Dortch and Teresa Russell; step-sister, Stephanie Thomas, all of Atmore; one brother, Paul Martin; one step-brother, Chris Thomas; aunts, uncles and special family that took him as their own along with nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 16, 2020 at 2 p.m. with Bishop Wayne Johnson, host Pastor; Bernard L. Bryant, Presiding and Pastor Tyrone Hartley, Eulogist. Interment followed in Stallworth Cemetery.
