They came to help

News Staff Report

When a hurricane hits, you can’t have too much help come to your rescue. That was certainly the case last week when numerous power companies sent crews to this area.
Beth Thomas with Alabama Power reported that 15 states sent crews to restore power in the APCO Mobile district of which Atmore is part. Those states are Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
Leslie Jackson with Southern Pine said seven electric cooperatives in Alabama and four contract crews came to our assistance. Those assisting Southern Pine in the restoration efforts were Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative (14 men), Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (7 men), Cherokee Electric Cooperative (12 men), Dixie Electric Cooperative (10 men), Tombigbee Electric Cooperative (2 men), Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative (8 men), Black Warrior Electric Cooperative (10 men), Taylor Electric (13 men), Corbitt Electric (10 men), Asplundh Tree Expert (10 men), and Harper Electric (25 men).
