Karen Simmons Nall

Mrs. Karen Simmons Nall, age 51, of Century, Ala., passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020. She was a native of Flomaton, AL and had resided in Century, FL for the past 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford “Shorty” and Margaret Annette Simmons and brother, Tony Simmons.
Mrs. Nall is survived by her husband, Milton R. “Butch” Nall of Century; grandfather, Aubrey “Sugar Boy” Strength of Flomaton; two daughters, Jessica Nichole Simmons of Jay, Fla. and Andrea Shea Nall of Atmore, Ala.; one brother, Tommy (Amber) Simmons of Flomaton; one sister, Pauline (Gene) Chancery of Pineview, Ala. and one grandchild, Clifford Thomas Adams.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Waylon Stuckey officiating. Burial will follow at McCurdy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 4, 2020 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Ruby Fantroy

Ms. Ruby Fantroy, age 77, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at West Gae Village in Brewton. She was born to the late Allen and Dorothy Fantroy.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Hoover, James, Mandora, Izell and Larry Fantroy; five sisters, Ivory Lee Fantroy, Edna Jackson, Elizabeth Fantroy, Eva Mae Thomas and Rosie Lee Johnson.

Ms. Fantroy is survived by her son, Marvin Fantroy of Huntsville, Ala.; granddaughter, Velia Fantroy of Ga. and on sister, Laura Fantroy of Brewton; two sister-in-law, Marie Fantroy of Brewton and Laura Fantroy of Pensacola, Fla.; one devoted niece, Lillie Fantroy and several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Second Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev.  Danny Benjamin officiating.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were her relatives.

James Earl Hardy

Mr. James Earl Hardy, age 74, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Friday, August 21, 2020. He was born to the late Jim Bridges and Elizabeth Hardy in Brewton. He was raised by his Aunt Jessie Strong. He was baptized at Second Saint Siloam Baptist Church. He was a 194 graduate of Southern Normal High School. He joined the United States Army in 1966 and then became a dedicated worker at ADICO in Brewton for fifteen years before retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Floyd and Minnie Drakeford.

Mr. Hardy is survived by his son, Jaylon Herbert (Onesha) of Brewton; two brothers, Bobby Hardy, Dennis (Andrea) Hardy, all of Brewton; one sister, Katherine Drakeford of Plainsfield, N.J.; one brother-in-law, Philip Floyd of Mobile, Ala.; two granddaughters, Ava Hall and Amoura Hall; one grandson, Konnor Herbert and a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services were held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Baptist HILL Cemetery, Brewton with Pastor Willie J. Blue officiating.

Pallbearers were Labarron Dees, Cameron Hardy, Anthony Herbert, Edward Johnson, Carlos Montgomery, Derrick Smith.

Joseph Lee “Joe” Sims

Mr. Joseph Lee “Joe” Sims, age 93, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in Atmore. He was born to the late August and Lille Sims in Wetumpka, Ala. He received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while in prison. He was paroled in 1972 and received his pardon by the State of Alabama in 1977. He had a giving heart and his life was a living testimony of God’s grace, leaving a Godly legacy. He was a member of Mennonite Christian Fellowship and memorized over three thousand bible verses. The children looked forward to getting candy from him every Sunday at church.  He was in the United States Army and was employed for over forty-five years with Escambia Feed and Seed.   

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters. 

Mr. Sims is survived by many friends who considered him family. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Mennonite Christian Fellowship with Pastor Blaine Copenhaver and Bro. Carl Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Freemanville Community Cemetery in Freemanville, Ala. 

Active pallbearers will be Curvin Hursh, Calvin Schrock, Marlin Metzler, Curtis Davison, Dr. Jon Yoder and Harold Weldy. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Weber and Marvin Bender, Sr. 

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Mennonite Christian Fellowship. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the We Care Program.

Jasper R. Stewart

Mr. Jasper R. Stewart, age 89, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in Bay Minette, Ala. He had resided in Bay Minette, Ala. for most of his life. He retired from Scott Paper Company as a pipe fitter with twenty-seven years of service; former accountant with Loper Company and a veteran of the Korean conflict serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Bay Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ransom and Millie Stewart; brother, Elwood “Bub” Stewart and sister, Evie Carson.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Eloise Stewart of Bay Minette; three daughters, Darlene (Gary) Robbins of Robertsdale, Ala., Yolanda (Tony) Hall of Bay Minette, and Rita Stewart of Tullahoma, Tenn.; one son, Scott O’Neal (Sherri) Stewart of Summerdale, Ala.; two brothers, Felton (Juanetta) Stewart and Carl (Miriam) Stewart,  all of Bay Minett; one sister, Rochelle White of Bay Minette; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Bay Assembly of God with Rev. Chester Clark and Pastor Steve Pettis officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 4, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bay Assembly of God.

Annie Louise Harris

Ms. Annie Louise Harris, age 80, of Atmore, Ala. (Freemanville Community), passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at her residence. She was a native of Monroeville, Ala. and a graduate of Escambia County Training School – Atmore. She was a member of First Baptist Church – McCullough. She had lived in New York for many years where she worked in the health care profession until she relocated back to Atmore. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Harris and her father, Johnny Harris.

Ms. Harris is survived by two daughters, Debra Harris of Atmore and Renee Lambert of Deltona, Fla.; two sons, Curtis Harris of Deltona and Marvin Lambert of Hempstead, N.Y.; four sisters, Luverne Lawson of McCullough, Ala., Mary Williams of Atmore (Freemanville), Emma Harris of Newport News, Va. and Betty Harris of Atmore; one brother, Charles Harris of Queens, N.Y.; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside services will be Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church – McCullough Cemetery with Rev. Charles Jones officiating.

Sylvester Hartley

Mr. Sylvester Hartley, age 60, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, August 21, 2020 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, Ala. He was a native of Uriah, Ala. and was reared in Atmore.  He attended Escambia County High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Hartley and Jessie Hartley, Jr.

Mr. Hartley is survived by two sisters, Gadella Hartley-Jones of Atmore and Anice Hartley of Jackson, Ala.; two brothers, Ricky Hartley of Orlando, Fla. and Charles Lewis of Union City, Ga; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside service was held Saturday, August. 29, 2020 at Uriah Community Cemetery with Bro. Louie Turner, III officiating.

Everette D. O’Farrell

Mr. Everette D. O’Farrell, age 87, of Oak Grove, Fla., passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in Pensacola, Fla.  He was born in Bratt, Fla. to the late John Henry and Lily Belle Wiggins O’Farrell. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Estelle Hanks and Ethelene Gibson and one brother, Eugene O’Farrell. 

Mr. O’Farrell is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Mary Janis Walker O’Farrell; two sons, Daryl (Ruth) O’Farrell and Dennis O’Farrell, all of Oak Grove; one daughter, Paula (Terry) Miller of Oak Grove; his grandchildren, Russell O’Farrell, Steven (Raquel) O’Farrell, Natasha (Andrew) Goodison, Sasha (Lance) Blackburn, Logan Miller, Harmonie O’Farrell and Candace Johnson; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; Ellis O’Farrell and Lamar (Joan) O’Farrell, all of Bratt and three sisters, Carolyn Morgan, Reita (Charles) Lowery and Patricia O’Farrell, all of Bratt. 

Graveside service will be held Monday, September 7, 2020 at 9 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Grove, Fla. with Bro. Brad Sullivan officiating.

James Hilton Hall, Sr.

Mr. James Hilton Hall, Sr., age 89, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020. He was born in Freemanville, Ala. to the late John Robert Hall and Clydie Brewer Hall. and lived all his life on a farm in the area surrounding Atmore. He was an active member of Nokomis Baptist Church until his health prevented him from attending. Throughout his years of work he was employed by A & P, Teledyne Continental, and Hendrix Tractor Company. He loved farming and mechanic work, and he enjoyed helping others. He loved to tell many stories about his childhood, his children, and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Naomi Stewart Hall; his second wife, Pat James Hall; his sisters, Elizabeth Reid, Ila Fuller, Nola Wise, Jimmie Johnson, and Jean Miller and his brothers, Earl Hall, Ray Hall, Gwinn Hall, and Gary Hall.
Mr. Hall is survived by, his daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Michael Hanks of Atmore; his son and daughter-in-law, James Hilton Hall, Jr. and Alice Hall of Atmore; his grandchildren, Tabitha Frazier (Mason) of Birmingham, Ala. and their children, Olivia, Anna Beth, and Barrett, and Cory Hanks (Courtney) of Auburn, Ala. and their children, Naomi, Miriam, Olivia, and Taylor; Shannon Chisler (Nick) and children, Logan and Lorelei Nokomis Baptist Church, and Justin Hall (Ashley) and son, Stanley; sister, Joyce Hollingsworth and he loved and was loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 7, 2020 at 10:30 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral with Rev. James Hill officiating. Burial followed at Nokomis Baptist Church Cemetery

Gregory Mark Mayo

Mr. Gregory Mark Mayo, age 50, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 in Pensacola, Fla.
He had resided in Range, Ala. for most of his life. He was a mechanic with the City of Brewton. He was a 1987 graduate of Repton High School where he played football and baseball. He was a youth football coach since he was 18 and 2 years as an assistant coach for Sparta Academy in Evergreen, Ala. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Margie Mayo; a brother, Michael Dewayne Mayo and a son Cory Mayo.
Mr. Mayo is survived by his wife, Tammy McBrayer Mayo of Range; two sons, Todd Mayo and Tony McBrayer, all of Range; two daughters, Kayla Mayo of Range and Brittany Parker (Devan) of Empire, Ala. and five grandchildren
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 2 p.m.at the House of Prayer Pentecostal Church of Range, Ala. with Bros. Bobby Pitts, Alton Pittman and Bobby Boatwright officiating. Burial followed at Range Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Warren Edward Morgan

Mr. Warren Edward Morgan, age 54, of Century, Fla., passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 in Century after a lengthy battle with cancer. He had a passion for restoring older model Oldsmobile’s, mostly 42’s. However, he was an expert on anything mechanical. He was the type of person who whenever others were in need, was always there. He seldom said “no” to anyone who needed his help. He was a very private person, but made friends easily with his easy going way and entertaining sense of humor. If he called you friend, you were truly blessed.

Mr. Morgan is survived by special friends and care givers, Kimberly, William and Josiah Carter of Century and all the dear friends who loved him as a brother, uncle, as well as several other friends that he shared his love, quick wit and sense of humor, as well as kindness during his lifetime.

James “Jimmy” Lawrence Williams 

Mr. James “Jimmy” Lawrence Williams, age 73, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Covenant Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital – Pensacola, Fla. He was a native of Savannah, Ga. and had lived in Atmore for the past several years. He was retired from Mancraft Papet and he had served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church – Atmore.

Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife, Augustine Williams of Atmore; step-daughter, Schemenia Johnson; two step-sons, Michael Johnson and Jermaine Johnson; one sister, Lillian V. Haynes of Savannah; Step – grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Jessie Jones, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at his home in Freemanville community.

Cornelious Shauntray Moorer

Mr. Cornelious Shauntray Moorer, age 38, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Monday, August 31, 2020. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to Rev. Sammie and Minister Shirley Moorer. He was a 2000 graduate of Northview High School. He was a member of New Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He worked with the family concrete finishing trade and then attended school to receive his CDL license and driving for several trucking companies, Billy Barnes, Warner, Knight, lastly C-C Trucking.  He enjoyed fishing, “Grill Master”, old cars, country and southern soul blues, but most of all he loved the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sammy and Rachel Redmond, Clyde and Flossie Moorer,  aunts and uncles, Andrew Moorer, Jeff Redmond, Robert Redmond, Annie Redmond Richardson and Noan Redmond Mitchell.

Mr. Moorer is survived by his wife since June 7, 2013 Clara Mae Howard Moorer; two sons, Cornelious Lionel Moorer and Bentley Shauntray Moorer; parents; bonus daughter and niece, Sahunta Moorer; God daughter, Kae’Lynn Gregson; sister,  Termetris “Michelle” Moorer; three brothers, Derek Leontra Moorer, Sammie (Sekia) Moorer and Issac Moorer; mother-in-law, Dana (Derrick)Wright; and father-in-law, Robert(Wendy) Howard; beloved niece, Sha’Kaura Moorer and his best friend and nephew, Zaylen Moorer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 1 p.m. at New Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Sammie Moorer, Pastor officiating. Interment followed at New Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cameron Howard, Chance Schoonover, Nick Kochan, Tyrus Moorer and Kervin Williams.

Floral attendants were his family and friends.
