James Bryars, Jr.
Mr. James Bryars, Jr., age 71, passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home in Perdido, Ala. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Baldwin County, Ala. area. He served as a Merchant Seaman, was retired from Scott Paper Company with thirty-two years of service. He was a member of the Splinterhill Pleasant Plains Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Bryars, Sr.
Mr. Bryars is survived by his mother, Dorothy Bryars of Perdido; wife of fifty-one years, Elsie Bryars of Perdido; one son, James Logan (Summer) Bryars of Wilmer, Ala.; two daughters, Wanda (Joe) Wilson of Lillian, Ala. and Crystal (Kenneth) Ryals of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Donnie (Diann) Bryars of Dyas, Ala.; one sister, Bobbie Cumbie of Perdido and two grandsons, Brayden and Jack.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Bryars-McGill Cemetery with Bro. Angelo Thomley and Bro. Larry Peacock officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tom King, Hunter Bates, Johnny Ramer, Jimmy Ramer, Joseph Bryars, Daniel Bryars and Marty Hadley.

Aubrey Eugene Roberson
Mr. Aubrey Eugene Roberson, age 67, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Ala. He was born in Atmore. He was a proud member of the Atmore Apostolic Church. He retired from Masland Carpets after forty-four years of service. Upon retiring, Aubrey spent his time at home doing things he enjoyed such as gardening and hunting. He served as a member of the Bell-Eddy Hunting Club. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Aubrey was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Eugene and Mary Moye Roberson of Flomaton, Ala. and an infant son, Chuck Roberson.
Mr. Roberson is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, “Pug” Shirley Roberson of Atmore; one daughter, Marlene (David) McNairn of Atmore; one son, James (Drummon) Roberson of Atmore, a sister, Mattie Robbins of Brewton, Ala.; two grandsons, Reece and Micah McNairn of Atmore; and a special cousin, Jack Knowles and numerous nieces and nephews and a world of friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Atmore Apostolic Church with Rev. Tim James, Bro. Hunter Richardson and Mr. Arthur Mothershed, officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Atmore Apostolic Church.

Mr. Daniel “Danny” Ray Hooks, age 64, of Pineview, Ala., passed away Monday, July 20, 2020. He was born on in Brewton, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Fletcher Hooks, Jr.; his mother, Mattie Ree Emmons Hooks Welch; his step-mother, Shirley Hooks and his brother, Mike Hooks.
Mr. Hooks is survived by his wife, Sherry White Hooks and two sons, Ryan Hooks of Pineview and Josh Hooks of Brewton, Ala.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Gary “Coach” Albert Loggins
Mr. Gary “Coach” Albert Loggins, age 73, of Pace, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 21,
2020. He was born in Mobile, Ala. to Albert Clayton and Bertie Strickland Loggins. He was a graduate of Dothan High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Troy State University where he was a member of the Troy State National Football Championship Team of 1968. He continued his education at University of West Florida receiving his Master’s degree in Education Administration. He retired from Escambia County Florida School District in 2009. His career in education as teacher, coach, and dean expanded 40 years. He served at Bessemer Academy in Bessemer, Ala.; Woodham High School in Pensacola, Fla.; Ernest Ward High School in Walnut Hill, Fla, and Warrington Middle School in Pensacola. Testimonies from former players all have a familiar refrain, “Coach Loggins had a positive impact on so many lives. He worked us hard but cared for us just as hard.” As an ultimate outdoorsman he loved hunting and fishing. Coach was an avid Alabama fan. He was also a member of the Krewe of Lafitte in Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Adkins Loggins and his father, Albert Loggins.
Mr. Loggins is survived by his wife, Carolyn Latham Loggins; son, Adam Loggins (Stephanie); granddaughter, Haley Loggins; mother Bertie Strickland Loggins; sister, Debra Loggins Jennings (Joe); step-daughter, Leigh Anne Russell-Jones (Alex); step-son, Jay Russell (Anne); step- grandchildren, Reese Jones, Weston Jones, Hunter Russell, and Sadie Russell.

James Arnold Turberville
Mr. James Arnold Turberville, age 80, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020. He was born in Mineola, Ala. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard and retired from Hendrix Tractor Company in Atmore, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Rachel Turberville; his father, Martin D. Turberville and his mother, Edna Hall White.
Mr. Turberville is survived by his sisters-in-law, Eloise Rachel Sullivan of Pace, Fla. and Marion Rachel Stephens of Milton, Fla. and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, Ala. with Bro. Lester Peavy officiating.

Lawrence Creighton Amerson, Jr.
Mr. Lawrence Creighton Amerson, Jr., age 94, known as L.C. or Ame to his friends and family, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in Virginia Beach, Va. He was born to Lawrence and Dollie Amerson in Jackson, Ala.. The family moved to Bratt, Fla., where he attended school. At the age of 19, he went into the Navy. He was in World War II while serving aboard USS Mugford along with three other ships. During this time, his oldest brother was serving on another ship. He played basketball with the Amphibious Force, US Atlantic Fleet Team.They received several awards and medals. After serving 20 years, he began working for the Norfolk Navy Yard. He received many awards from the Mayor of Virginia Beach for his service to the group delivering medical supplies and food to the shut-ins.He loved fishing and enjoyed time with his family especially at the Bratt reunions.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Thelma; his parents, Lawrence and Dollie Amerson; twelve of his siblings and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Mr. Amerson is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; two special friends, Tiny Rigby Bolton and Jenny Rigby and his baby sister, Shirley Amerson Whatley of Bratt..

Mr. Lee Verne, age 89, passed awayThursday, July 23, 2020. He was a native of Escambia County, Ala.,and was born in McCullough, Ala. He resided in Atmore, Ala. most of his life. He and his wife, Amy were owners and managers of Builders Hardware and Supply Company in Atmore for thirty-four years. He was president of Canoe Water System for many years. He was chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee for Escambia Baptist Association for a number of years. He served as Deacon, Treasurer, S.S. Superintendent, Adult S.S. Teacher, and Minister of Music at Moyeville Baptist Church. He was a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy; parents, Wiley and Marguerite Davis Seale; four sisters, Lucille Butt, Jessie Swindle, Mary McClain, and Lois Creamer and one brother, Clifford.
Mr. Seale is survived by two brothers, Murlon (Margaret) of Atmore and Floyd (Betty) of Wawbeek, Ala.; two sisters, Nancy Nelson of Foley, Ala. and Dottie (Charles) West of Ozark, Ala.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 26, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Knowles and Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Burial followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 1:30 until service time at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Larry D. Lovelace
Mr.Larry D. Lovelace, age 58, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 14, 2020. He was born in Brewton to the late Charlie and Minnie Lee Lovelace. He was a member of Secnd Saint Siloam Bapttist church serving as a Deacon. He was a faithful and dedicated memer and was often seen walking to church services. He loved Alabama football. He was full of joy and laughter and was known for helping people he could.
Mr. Lovelace is survived by his sister, Evelyn Lovelace of Brewton; four brothers, Charles (Sophia) Berry and Junior Lovelace,, both of Andalusia, Ala., Tim (Melissy) Berry of Brewton; one sister, Tracey (Albert) Berry of Andalusia; niece, Leah D. Nolan; nephews, Jeffery Redmon and Patrick Lovelace; great nephew, Fabion Lovelace (Jennier McDonald and a host of cousins and friends.
