Mary Jane McGhee

Mrs. Mary Jane McGhee, age 72, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 at her home in Atmore, Ala. She was a native and life-long resident of Atmore. She was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and the First Pentecostal Church of McCullough. She attended the Poarch Creek Sales Center and enjoyed sewing, making quilts, shelling peas and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Raymond McGhee; parents, Robert and Lillie Mae Rolin and sister, Velma Rolin Hollinsworth.

Mrs. McGhee is survived by one step-daughter, Diedra “Dee”  McGhee (Jeffery) Ward of Alabaster, Ala.; special granddaughter, Makayla Jane Rolin of Atmore; special nephew, Robert Harold Rolin of Atmore; three sisters, Lillie Bell Tucker and Willie Faye Thomas, both of Atmore and Thelma (Jerry) Williamson of Uriah, Ala.; three step-grandchildren, William, Christina and Patrick; two special friends, Jarrell Hollinger and Randy Adams; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Alton Lister officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jerry Williamson, Jamie Williamson, Jarrell Hollinger, Randy Adams, Waylon Tucker, David Gibbs and Justin Stabler.

Billy G. Ward  

Mr. Billy G. Ward, 95 of Walnut Hill, Florida, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 in Walnut Hill. He was born in Walnut Hill to the late Horace H. and Minnie Lou Morgan Ward. He served in the United States Army and was a WW II Veteran. He was a graduate of Ernest Ward High School and University of Florida College of Law. He was a retired Escambia County Florida Judge with over thirty-two years of service and former member of the Escambia County Florida Bar Association. He was the last remaining charter member of the Walnut Hill Ruritan Club. He was a lifelong member of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church serving as a deacon for many years. He enjoyed farming, fishing and traveling in his RV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marshall Ward, Ernest Ward, Royce Ward and his sister, Willowdean Bingham.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of seventy-four years, Lois King Ward of Walnut Hill; two sons, Roy (Jackie) Ward of Bratt, Fla. and Russ (Allison) Ward of Hoover, Ala.; grandchildren, Jordana Ward, Jocelyn (Nicholas) Drew, Hope Ward, Seth Ward and a great-grandchild, Eleanor Drew.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Ted Bridges and Reverend James Boyd officiating. Burial followed in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Friday, May 22, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. until service time at Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers were Seth Ward, Nicholas Drew, Horace Ward, Scott Ward, Heath Ward, and Craig King.

Honorary pallbearers were Brett Ward, Harry Ward, Ted Bridges, Sr., Tim Gibbs, Kevin Faircloth, Edward Godwin, and Ed Hudson.

Those who desire may make memorial donations in memory of Billy Ward to Walnut Hill Baptist Church Life Center.

Sabrina White Godwin   

Godwin

Mrs. Sabrina White Godwin, age 50, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a native and life-long resident of Atmore, Ala. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy White; daughter, Kayla Godwin and sister, Traci White.
Mrs. Godwin is survived by her mother, Louise White of Atmore; one son, Justin Daniel White of Atmore; one brother, Bill White of Atmore; one sister, Melissa (Steven) Carpenter of Atmore: two nieces, Shyla O’Barr and Camryn O’Barr, both of Perdido, Ala.; one great-niece, Elliana Allen of Perdido and special aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23, 2020 at noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Ronald Hall officiating. Burial followed at Serenity Garden Cemetery.

Ronald “Ronnie” Ray Mosley

Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Ray Mosley, age 72, a lifelong resident of Atmore, Ala. passed away Friday, May 15, 2020. He was a millwright most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lesley Mosley and Rhonda Christine Mosley and brothers, Wayne and Douglas Mosley.

Mr. Mosley is survived by his son, Rob Mosley and wife Mary Alice of Troy, Ala.; two grandchildren, Jack and Alice Mosley and a nephew, Blaise Mosley and wife Courtney of Daphne, Ala.

A family gathering of family and friends was held Friday, May 22, 2020 from 2 until 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Danny Edward Lane 

Mr. Danny Edward Lane, age 65, of Huxford, Ala., passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Edward “Boss” and Jessie Dawson Lane. His passion was farming with his beloved John Deere Tractors.

Mr. Lane is survived by his two sisters, Bobbie (Charles) Lynam of Monroeville, Ala. and Martha “Mot” (Steve) Wallace of Prattville, Ala.; three nieces, Tina (Keith) Johnson, Mitzi (Brian) Thomas and Stephanie (Kevin) Joiner; seven great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Williams and Bro. Tad McMullen officiating. Burial followed in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Enon, Ala.

The family received friends Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m.at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Mark Murphy, Keith Johnson, Kevin Joiner, Michael Joiner, Rece Joiner and Jerry Vickery.

Honorary pallbearers were Joe Coker, Ricky Middleton, Wayne Redditt, Glen Dreadin, Gerald Palmer, David Dreadin and Chris Robinson.

Terry Ray Hall

Mr. Terry Ray Hall, age 54, of Nokomis, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 in Mobile, Ala. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Robert Ray and Edro Daniel Hall. He worked in communications enjoyed hunting, fishing, landscaping and loved Alabama Football.

He was preceded in death by parents.

Mr. Hall is survived by his sister, Martha Hall of Nokomis; extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 25, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Nokomis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Presley, Brian Stewart, Keith Stewart, Damon Stewart, Daryl Miller and Sandy Sanspree.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hilton Hall, Gwin Hall, James Presley and Edgar Norris.

John William Spence

Mr. John William Spence, age 82, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 in Stockton, Ala. He was a native of Nokomis, Fla. and had resided in Walnut Hill, Fla. for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He was  also known as PopPop, was an avid outdoorsman, partner in the Spence Logging Company, retired supervisor from Gulf Power with twenty years of service and a member of the Bratt First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Rebecca Spence; brother, Alton Spence and three sisters, Annie Mae Cook, Doris Payne and Marie Locke.

Mr. Spence  is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary Ann Spence of Walnut Hill; two sons, Scott (Sandra) Spence of Walnut Hill and Kenneth “DJ” (Dianna) Spence of Molino, Fla.; four daughters, Robin (Joey) McCall of Walnut Hill, Shannon (Chris) Kinley of Century, Fla., Kathryn (Barry) Sumrall of Atmore, Ala. and Regina (Brian) Simpson of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, J.D. “Dink” (Jean) Spence of Pineville, Fla.; thirteen grandchildren and one on the way; eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 10 a.m. a Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart and Bro. John C. Spence officiating. Burial will follow at the Spence Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be DJ Spence, Jake McCall, Rusty Hodges, Don Spence, Cole Norton, Nathaniel Nelson and Sergeant Sam Spence.

Honorary pallbearers will be Romeo Coleman, James Ed Gilman, Robert Gilman, Clark Ziglar, Jim Bolerjack, Phillip Kelly and Bobby Amerson.

Mr. Ray George Sharp, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his home.
