News Staff Report

A joint operation between the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, police in East Brewton and Brewton, Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and sheriff’s offices in Conecuh, Covington and Monroe counties led to the arrest of an East Brewton man on child pornography charges.
Escambia County Sheriff Heath Jackson announced in a press release that a search warrant was executed Monday, May 11, at an address in the 700 block of Williamson Street in East Brewton.
During the search, Richard James Rabon, 42, was arrested after several images of child pornography were located on his cellular telephone.
The case against Rabon evolved from reports by numerous parents in the community that inappropriate comments and messages were received from Rabon on social media. Jackson said a joint operation was put together, and all agencies worked tirelessly to bring the matter to a close.
Rabon is charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and is being held without bond in the Escambia County Detention Center pending a court appearance.
Anyone with any information about the case or who was contacted by Rabon, is urged to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at 251-809-0741 and ask to speak with Investigator Shue.
