EA ranked 7th in AISA baseball poll; JUB in at No. 10 in AHSAA Class 2A

Two area baseball teams are ranked in the latest Alabama Sportswriter Association polls which was released last week, just after the season was paused due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Escambia Academy’s Cougars are ranked No. 7 in the AISA polls after compiling a 15-6 record before the season pause.
J.U. Blacksher’s Bulldogs, sporting a record of 7-3, were ranked 10th in Class 2A. In addition to moving into the AWSA polls, Blacksher was also listed as 7th in the Alabama Prep Baseball Report rankings.
JUB’s Tucker Spence was awarded the AL.com male athlete of the week in the most recent poll.
“It is nice to have some positive, with the uncertainty that is surrounding us,” JUB head coach Justin Mixon said.
Another area team also made the Top 10 in its classifications. T.R. Miller is ranked 4th in Class 3A.
The AHSAA is scheduled to discuss future plans for high school athletics later this week.
