John R. “Johnny” Broughton

Mr. John R. “Johnny” Broughton, age 55, passed away Sunday, March 8 2020 at his home in Bay Minette, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Bay Minette, Ala. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Margaret Benton; father, John Robert Rice; brother, Timmy Broughton and sister, Donna Broughton Taylor.
Mr. Broughton is survived by his wife, Shona Chastang of Whitehouse Fork, Ala.; two sons, John (Megan) Broughton, Jr. of Foley, Ala. and Cody (Michelle) Broughton of Robertsdale, Ala.; two daughters, Chassity Broughton Richardson of Miss. and Jessica (Nicholas) Forseth of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, Sean (Stephanie) Rice of Bay Minette; one sister, Teri Benton of Elberta, Ala. and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Wanda Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Mayo, Trent Froseth, Laven Taylor, Addison Hill, Charlie Mosley, Sean Rice and Melvin Rich.

Glenn Douglas Jones

Mr. Glenn Douglas Jones, age 72, of Mobile, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 in Mobile. He was born in Atmore, Ala. to the late Novie L. and Gracie Mitchell Jones. He was a retired yard foreman and crane operator at Construction Solutions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ginger Dian Jones and sister, Alicia Leatherwood.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Dian Pouncey Jones of Mobile; one son, Glenn Jones of Mobile; two step-sons, Scott (Elizabeth) Leatherwood of Mobile and Robert Leatherwood of Atmore; one daughter, Kylisha Mallard of Peachtree City, Ga. and one sister, Ann (Robert) Hughes; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Barr officiating. Burial will follow in Canoe United Methodist Church Cemetery in Robinsonville, Ala.

Active pallbearers will be Justin Leatherwood, Tanner Leatherwood, Robert Leatherwood, Jonathan Bray, Jerome Quinn and Joshua Husband.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from noon until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Roxie A. Williams

Mrs. Roxie A. Williams, age 92, of Stockton, Ala, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Oakwood Nursing Home in Bay Minette, Ala.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Turner Funeral Chapel.

 

Cynthia Davis Bush

Cynthia Davis Bush, age 54, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Covenant Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Jones Street Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 14, 2020 one hour before funeral time at the church.

Mattie Curry

Mattie Curry of Brewton, Ala., passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at her home

Mary Lee Gibbs

Mrs. Mary Lee Gibbs, age 84, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 in Monroeville, Ala. She was a native of Atmore, Ala., former resident of Monroeville and had resided in Gantt, Ala. for the past five years. She was a Teacher’s Associate with the Escambia County Florida School System from 1966 to 1999 and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Andalusia, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Robert Lee Gibbs; parents, Allen and Clara Lee; four brothers; one sister and grandson, Scott Gibbs.
Mrs. Gibbs is survived by her three sons, Tony (Wanda) Gibbs of Walnut Hill, Fla., Bob (Pam) Gibbs of Monroeville and Sammy (Annette) Gibbs of Atmore; one daughter, Cheryl Gibbs of Gantt; four grandchildren, Amanda (Greg), Eric (Kirsten), Jessica (Ryan) and Caroline (Michael); eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Diane Everette and Rev. Bill Watts officiating. Burial will follow at the Canoe Freewill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews, Greg Babiak, Eric Gibbs, Ryan Lowell, Michael Sonen, Ed Johnson and Russ Johnson.

Kelvin “Andy” King

Mr. Kelvin “Andy” King, age 46, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at his home in Atmore, Ala. He was a native of Brewton, Ala. and a life-long resident of the Escambia County, Ala. area. He was a 1991 graduate of the Escambia County High School and was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Sue Wardrop; sister, Stephanie King; brother, John Wardrop and grandparents, James P. and Lilly McRae.
Mr. King is survived by his father, Carlton Ray (Sally) King of Huntsville, Ala.; step-father, R. Glenn Wardrop of Atmore; one brother, Caleb (Kristal) Wardrop of Brewton and one sister, Amanda (Ryan) Creighton of Huntsville, Ala.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Elder Wayne Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Garden Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
