Escambia County High’s boys fell short January 17 against the state’s number-one ranked Class 4A school, Williamson High, losing to the Lions for the second time in a week.
The 76-44, 32-point setback came on the heels of a 28-point loss to Williamson on January 10. Friday’s game marked the last scheduled meeting between the two teams for the rest of this season.
Sheldon Williams and Ha’keem Johnson scored 10 points each to lead the Blue Devils. Trevon Lambert chipped in six points; Tyson Moorer and Jalen Barnes added five points each; Allen Patterson added three points; Reginald Terrick and Kaiden Arnold scored two each.
On the upside, Williams and Moorer combined for 42 points as ECHS gained a 69-44 victory over W.S. Neal last Tuesday, January 14.
Williams netted 22 points against the Blue Eagles, while Moorer hit for 20. Johnson scored eight points; Barnes scored six; Jamarius Lewis added four, and Michael French had three.
With the win-loss week, ECHS’s current record stands at 10-11.
The Blue Devils will take to the road to face Mary G. Montgomery next Tuesday, January 28.
